At 284 Atahualpa, muraled doors lead to magical new lands

Two doors – floating trees, endless azure skies, and fiery sun-baked deserts await

Which door will you choose?

Walking Trees And Magic Sands

It is week 48 of 100 Word Wednesday, and here is the photo and my response. ๐Ÿ™‚ If you’d like to participate, just click the link! ๐Ÿ˜‰

This one ended up with an interesting structure; it breaks at such a curious point in the poem, and I thought about trying to fix it, but I think the timing of it is actually quite fitting.

Photo by Trevor Cole

Knarled branches reaching upward
Upward toward the sky
The sky that branches covered;
Covering the blue from my eyes…

My eyes can only see limbs,
Limbs with intentions unclear.
Unclear motives leave me wondering if on any whim,
On any whim, a limb could whisk me away from here.

From here to another world, another land,
A land far away from what I’m used to, where
To where walking trees and magic sands –
Sands of time float like snowflakes in the air!

With that, I exit the wood, my reverie broken;
At least they didn’t throw apples at me
Like they did in the Wizard of Oz, but then –
I laugh as I look back; those weren’t apple trees…

Into The Cool Water

What a beautiful coast! ๐Ÿ˜ Haha, this is the third time that mermaids have made an appearance in a 100 Word Wednesday prompt, except this time, the roles have been reversed… ๐Ÿ˜„

Walking along the coastline
I spot a jeweled bangle
Admire the sparkling tourmaline
Put it on, let it dangle

Suddenly I canโ€™t breathe
The air is too thin
And where my legs used to be
Have turned into fins.

How magical! Iโ€™ve had quite enough
Of water being out of my reach.
So I put on the magical cuff,
And I walk down the beach

And into the cool water.
I put the bracelet back on
And I donโ€™t even falter;
This is natural to me!

This may sound strange;
But itโ€™s time for a change!
Goodbye air and land,
Hello water and sand!

The Water’s Edge

It’s week twenty-six of 100 Word Wednesday, and here is the photo and my response. ๐Ÿ™‚ If you’d like to join in, just click the link! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Fun thing about this one – it seems to pick up where week 25 left off! That hasn’t happened before. ๐Ÿ˜„

I stroll to the waterโ€™s edge.
I watch the humans walking,
As I peer from behind a hedge.
All are jangling – what they call “talking,”

Going about the daily routines,
As if I were not even here.
I step out where I can be seen.
I recall the armlet โ€“ human, I appear.

It is so interesting above the water;
Hard surface below my feet,
And the sun seems so much hotter.
I wipe sweat from my brow โ€“ Iโ€™m beat!

I return to the pier, release the pin,
The magical bracelet falls free;
My feet are replaced by fin,
As I dive back into the sea!

Spin The World

It’s week 25 of 100 Word Wednesday, and here I am posting at the last minute again! ๐Ÿ˜… If you’d like to join in the fun, just click the link! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Lovely image, BikurGirl! ๐Ÿ˜

I see the boats aplenty
Creating surface tension
On the waterโ€™s shiny top layer
Waiting to be ridden
On the open seas
Freedom!

Look at it how Iโ€™d see
With underwater vision
From my surreptitious lair
Humans are forbidden
From viewing these
Kingdoms!

Turn it upside down,
Yes, spin it around…

Tell me, what do you see?
The sky isnโ€™t the limit,
Itโ€™s the bottom of the sea;
And the air below it!

I put on my special bangle
And one limit fades away;
Spin the world to another angle.
Now I have feet for the day!

Something More?

I fall asleep and find myself in a green field.
Sapphire sky above, horses walking around,
But could there be something concealed?
Is there something more to be found?

Among a herd of horses, I seek
One who has a single horn;
I know, my chances are bleak,
But I dream of finding a unicorn!

I’d saddle him and ride,
Laughing, giddy all the way.
Sure, go ahead, deride,
While we ride off to play!

Then I’ll awaken from that fantasy,
Wishing curtains didnโ€™t close the scene,
Wanting the magic to follow me,
But it canโ€™t cross the border between –

Dream and reality…
