I fall asleep and find myself in a green field.
Sapphire sky above, horses walking around,
But could there be something concealed?
Is there something more to be found?
Among a herd of horses, I seek
One who has a single horn;
I know, my chances are bleak,
But I dream of finding a unicorn!
I’d saddle him and ride,
Laughing, giddy all the way.
Sure, go ahead, deride,
While we ride off to play!
Then I’ll awaken from that fantasy,
Wishing curtains didnβt close the scene,
Wanting the magic to follow me,
But it canβt cross the border between –
Dream and reality…
Love your poem. I hope you find that unicorn someday. π

Thank you! π β₯ When I was a kid, I used to pretend that if I rode my bike fast enough, it would turn into a flying unicorn. I still remember dreaming once that it actually happened, and I was flying toward the moon like E.T. did in the movie. π Her name was SeaStar. (The brand name on my old “banana seat” bike.)

My daughter use to have an imagination like you and she loved Unicorns. I remember the E.T. movie. I always wanted to take off like that and go to some wonderful, magical place. Nothing wrong with dreaming. Ha Here’s to fond memories of SeaStar! π

Aww, that’s great! π But… “used to?” Haha, I’m in my mid-twenties and I still like unicorns. I have unicorn and fantasy type figurines still, and a unicorn made its way into my Christian fantasy novel draft too. XD
I haven’t seen the movie in many years, but I remember that one scene. π Yes, me too! Just because we’re “adults” doesn’t mean we have to stop dreaming. π
Yes, here’s to fond memories of SeaStar! π I’m actually considering restoring her. She’s still in working order (for the most part XD ) but needs some cosmetic work done.

We just watched that movie with our boys for the first time about 6 months ago — they saw the magic too β€

It makes me wonder where the unicorn legend originated from?

Oh, that’s a really good thought. Now I’m curious too. I may have to look this up…
This is slightly off topic, but I do remember Numbers 23:22 (KJV): “God brought them out of Egypt; He hath as it were the strength of an unicorn.” I assume it meant ox, but unicorn is more fun to imagine. XD

Another beautiful poem, Grace. I have dreams sometimes I wish wouldn’t end, or that I want to go back to sleep and rejoin. I guess we all do…

Thank you! π β₯ Haha, me too. And it’s fun if you are able to. I’ve had it happen rarely. Also lucid dreaming is fun when that happens…

Wow…I’d never heard of lucid dreaming before. I don’t think I’ve ever been able to do that. I a lot of my dreams I try to get people to do things, or get tasks done, but I’m not able to make things happen as I like…wonder what that means?

Oh! It’s pretty cool. π I’ve had it happen before. I also did a whole research project on it because it is a theme in my novel I’m writing called The Lucid. It’s fun when it happens, but it’s hard to make it happen, haha. Some people are natural lucid dreamers. http://www.world-of-lucid-dreaming.com/what-its-like-to-be-a-natural-lucid-dreamer.html If you’re interested, that’s an article about what it’s like. π Except I have also experienced a bit of dream control, which was nice. But I tend to go a bit nuts when that happens, lol.

It is hard for me to relate to because it has never happened to me. It sounds like a trance of some kind. Is it that sort of thing? I read some of the article about Clohe, (sp?) and her natural lucid dreaming and it sounds kind of like a trance or daydream…

I’m not sure if it’s like a trance (I’ve never been in a trance); it’s a dream that you’re in, and you realize it’s a dream while you’re in it. π I’m not a natural, but sometimes I’ll realize it’s not real. And on rare occasions, I can control some things. Kind of. It usually doesn’t turn out like I want, but one of my favorite ones that I’ve had was when I walked through a mirror like with Alice in Wonderland, which is the whole reason I wanted to do that. π But it feels very real.

Very interesting Grace. I’ve never had any experience like what you describe at all. Guess I’m not a “Lucid” at all. And I know I haven’t been in a trance before. Hey if I don’t say it later on, have a great weekend, Grace!
