It is week 48 of 100 Word Wednesday, and here is the photo and my response. π If you’d like to participate, just click the link! π
This one ended up with an interesting structure; it breaks at such a curious point in the poem, and I thought about trying to fix it, but I think the timing of it is actually quite fitting.

Photo by Trevor Cole
Knarled branches reaching upward
Upward toward the sky
The sky that branches covered;
Covering the blue from my eyes…
My eyes can only see limbs,
Limbs with intentions unclear.
Unclear motives leave me wondering if on any whim,
On any whim, a limb could whisk me away from here.
From here to another world, another land,
A land far away from what I’m used to, where
To where walking trees and magic sands –
Sands of time float like snowflakes in the air!
With that, I exit the wood, my reverie broken;
At least they didn’t throw apples at me
Like they did in the Wizard of Oz, but then –
I laugh as I look back; those weren’t apple trees…
This brought a smile to my face! Particularly at the end. I wasn’t expecting the lines, and I loved them. I also really love the flowy words and imagery. π

What a delightful adventure! If they had been apple trees, I would not have wanted to take any without asking.

Is this similar to the loop poetry form? I love that very much!

I just Googled it and yes, it is! π I’d love to try one sometime that is in true loop poetry form. π Thank you! β€

I always want to try, but I can’t do it in a hurry. So I need time if I want to do one!

π I understand that! Yes – and time without distractions, or I lose concentration and my mind goes in circles – or loops… π Which is surprisingly not very helpful in writing loop form poetry. π

I couldn’t agree more — exquisite poem β€ Since I'm not a follower of 'true' poetry, I thoroughly enjoyed reading it for the pleasure of it's own cadence and rhyme and couldn't help but chuckle about the lack of apple trees, 'We're not in Kansas anymore' π Thank you for joining us this week!
