The Awesome Blogger Award

The Awesome Blogger Award

[created by Maggie]

This is an award for the absolutely wonderful writers all across the blogging world. They have beautiful blogs, are kind and lovely, and always find a way to add happiness and laughter to the lives of their readers. That is what truly defines an awesome blogger.

Thank you Maggie for nominating me with this award! I’m so honored to not only receive it, but be among the first to receive it. 🙂

The Rules:

  • Thank the person who nominated you.
  • Include the reason behind the award.
  • Include the banner in your post.
  • Tag it under #awesomebloggeraward in the Reader.
  • Answer the questions your nominator gave you.
  • Nominate at least 5 awesome bloggers.
  • Give your nominees 10 new questions to answer.
  • Let your nominees know that they’ve been nominated!

  1. What impact do you want to have on the world?
    • I want to tell people about Jesus’ love and lift people’s spirits. But because it’s hard for me to speak to people I don’t know, it’s not often I get to do that. However, it turns out that WordPress is a way to do that which doesn’t make me a nervous wreck. 🙂
  2. What is your vision for your blog in the next six months? (future posts, design, etc)
    • As for future posts, I will probably continue with poems, photos, and responding to some prompts, and my goal is to somehow give some glory to God in those. However, I may start including a book review now and then. Just every once in a while. I love to read. And I finished Hind’s Feet on High Places by Hannah Hurnard and Black by Ted Dekker not long ago.
    • As for the design… I’ve considered changing the theme, but… I really do like BookLite, and I loooove having a header image, and I don’t want to give that up. But it would be a space saver to have a menu on the side instead of cramming it all on the bottom. I’ve considered changing to the Collinear theme (which one of my favorite bloggers is using here) but I couldn’t bear to do it yet. 😄
  3. Where is somewhere you would love to go?
    • The Rockies or the Ozarks – I love the mountains. Or maybe the beach. I haven’t seen the ocean yet and I would like to. 🙂
  4. What is the nicest thing someone has ever done for you?
    • My Lord saved me from the stormy seas. If you want to read more about that: My Lifeguard The second most is probably when a friend drove through like, three states just to visit me. 😊 ❤
  5. If you could witness any event of the past, present, or future, what would it be?
    • That’s a hard one! Probably witness Jesus teach. Perhaps when He gave the Sermon on the Mount?
  6. What is a skill you’d like to learn? Why?
    • Speak Spanish! I’ve always wanted to learn a second language, and I picked Spanish. But I haven’t gotten very far yet.
  7. What are you most grateful for?
    • I was kidnapped, and an Amazing Guy paid my ransom. 🙂 If you want to read more about that nice thing: He Paid My Ransom. (I feel like I’m advertising my past blog posts at this point… 😄 )
  8. If you had the opportunity to get a message across to a large group of people, what would your message be?
    • The Gospel. 🙂 (If I don’t die from stage fright first. 😅)

…I cannot contain my joy, my elation
I want to spread His Word far and wide
Make sure that everyone in every nation
Gets a chance to feel His warmth inside…
[taken from His Loving Warmth In My Soul]

  9. Which activities make you lose track of time?
    • Computer games and blogging. I don’t play computer games much anymore because they tend to eat up all my free time like the little dude in pac-man eating all those little circles until he gets eaten. 😄 But I have found that I love WordPress and the community here. Sometimes I can’t sleep and I’ll be reading blogs until 3AM. Oops.
  10. What is the difference between being alive and truly living?
    • I heard a quote once: “In the end, it’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years.” Being alive is counting the years, the quality; truly living is seeing the quality in the years you’ve lived, and what you use the years for, if that makes sense. 🙂

I struggled inside, simply to survive
I didn’t know how it was to be alive
All I was doing was existing
And foolishly continued resisting
When in Christ, I could have strived
[taken from In The Wink of an Eye]

My Nominees:

Alan R. Kive – What a creative idea of using ideas written on sticky notes in posts. 🙂 P.S.: I’ll be the first to leave a mark on your Leave Your Mark page with a pingback! 😄 #rebel

Too Comfortable – I love the concept of this blog, that we should not be afraid to be uncomfortable for Christ’s sake.

Message in Stanza – There is such beautiful poetry here.

Daily Thankful – One post per day about something to be thankful for. Reminds me of, “By Him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.” (Hebrews 13:15)

The Psalmist – Praising God every day with songs and poems.

Keri L. – Poetry, short stories, and more. If you haven’t read The Artist, I recommend that you do. It was fantastic.

Hannah – She takes such awesome photos, and I enjoyed reading her recommendations for books and I especially liked her post about classic movie musicals! 🎵 Siiiinging in the rain, just siiiiinging in the rain… 🎶

Maggie – You know I had to nominate you on your birthday! 😉 I really love your blog – you are amazing. HAPPY BIRTHDAY! 🎊

One Year Anniversary!

I can’t believe it has been a year! My, how time flies. Thank you all for reading, liking, commenting, and following. 💕

In the last year, I’ve met so many wonderful people on this platform. It has been such an incredible journey thus far, and I can’t wait to see what the second year has in store. 🙂

Have a great weekend, y’all! ❤

More Awards!

I feel so loved, you guys. 😊 Thank you all so much! 💗 My heart is overflowing with happiness and gratitude!

First, I’d like to thank Hannah for nominating me for the Versatile Blogger Award for the second time! I completely forgot that you had nominated me and saw your comment when I recently updated my About Me page. I’m so sorry I’m just now getting to it.

I’d like to thank Keri L for nominating me for the Blogger Recognition Award for the second time!

I’d like to thank Keri L for nominating me for the One Lovely Blog Award for the second time!

I’d like to thank FaithWalkingHebrews for nominating me for the Blogger Recognition Award for the third time!

I’d like to thank LeneinJapan for nominating me for the Versatile Blogger Award for the third time!

I’d like to thank C for nominating me for the Versatile Blogger Award for the fourth time!

I’d like to thank Tina at Invisible Illness Blog for nominating me for the Mystery Blogger Award for the second time! (Your questions have been answered at the end of the tag.  😉 )

And I’d like to thank Allen R. Kive for nominating me for the One Lovely Blog Award for the third time!

I’m going to do this differently because I am a bit short on time and because this seems to be the perfect way to give facts about myself without repeating myself too much – because I am running out of facts to tell you all about myself. 😂

20 Things You Might Not Know About Me Tag

Eloise over on Highly Improbable Blog tagged anyone reading, so here we go. 🙂

How tall are you?

Probably as tall as I’m going to get. 😄 Maybe… 5’6? Taller if I decide to put on heels, which I love but my feet despise – and it has to be thick heels unless you like watching me go splat on the pavement. 😂

Do you have a hidden talent? If so, what is it?

I mentioned this on the first One Lovely Blog Award, however, this time, I’m posting an example of it – I can write backwards in print and in cursive!

What is your biggest blog-related pet peeve?

Probably when someone wields words to hurt people. That happened a lot last November it seemed, and it’s still happening. 😣 They say that the pen is mightier than the sword, but we shouldn’t be using our keyboard as a weapon to hurt people!

What is your biggest non-blog related pet peeve?

When someone uses Christ’s name in vain. (This also applies to the previous question. But I usually hear it more often than I read it.)

What’s your favorite song?

Only one? 😄 Uh… there are so many good songs. This one is one of my favorites ever though:

What’s your favorite Etsy shop that isn’t yours?

Uh. Is it bad that I don’t know what an Etsy shop is? **blushes**

What is your favorite way to spend your free time when you are alone?

Probably reading. I just finished reading Black by Ted Dekker (which was amazing) and I’m almost finished with Winds of Promise by Brodie and Brock Thoene. I have a huge stack of books to dive into after that. (I really should get a Goodreads account…)

What’s your favorite junk food?

Chocolate. Specifically, dark chocolate. And pretty much anything covered in it.

Do you have a pet or pets? If so, what kind and what are their names?

I do! And this may take a while. 😄 I have one dog named Rosie (shown below) who must think she is a cat, especially when it comes to food. She loves cat food and fish more than anything. o_O And last but not least… I have 17 cats who are as follows: Angel, Belle, Blackie, Catalina (shown below), Dottie, Firecracker, Gabby, Jay, Lolli, Mama Kitty, Monkey, Ode, Rabbit, Radar, Simone, Sketcher, and Sparrow. **whew**

What are your number one fiction and nonfiction books?

Oh man. Seriously? Haha. At the moment, Black by Ted Dekker is really trying to take over the Narnia series by C. S. Lewis for the Fiction slot, while Seeing and Savoring Jesus Christ by John Piper is overtaking The Agony and Glory of the Cross by Charles B. Hodges Jr, and it is entirely possible that Humility by Andrew Murray may overtake them both after I finish it. 🙂

What’s your favorite cosmetic?

Hmm… probably mascara (which I sometimes double as an eyeliner. XD)

When were you last embarrassed? What happened?

Oh boy… a while ago my mom and I went out to eat and I was so shy and nervous that instead of asking the waitress for tea with no ice, I asked for ice with no tea.  Strangers do it to me every time without meaning to. 😄 I’m still getting teased for this, but I can laugh about it now. At the time I just wanted to disappear.

If you could only drink one beverage (besides water) for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Tea! 😀

What’s your favorite movie?

Probably The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. Classic. Although, I adore old musicals so Singin’ In The Rain and Yankee Doodle Dandy is right up there with it…

What were you in high school: prom queen, nerd, cheerleader, jock, valedictorian, band geek, loner, artist, prep?

I was home schooled and the only one in my “class.” So I guess I was everything at once…? 😄 Though I think I would have been a blend of class clown, nerd, and loner most likely.

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live?

Maybe somewhere in the mountains like the Ozarks or the Rockies. I think I could get fantastic photos there. Though I really want to see the ocean someday, so anywhere near the ocean might be nice too.

PC or Mac?

PC. I’ve never tried a Mac; and the majority of my games and programs wouldn’t work on a Mac anyway.

Last romantic gesture from a crush, date, boy/girlfriend, spouse?

AHAHAHAHAHA- sorry. The last time a boy kissed me, it was Ode, my cat, and he doesn’t count. 😜 I’m single. I’ve never had a boyfriend. Or been on a date.  The only affection I get are from pets, and it’s not romantic at all. 😄

Favorite celebrity?

I don’t really keep up with Hollywood enough to know…

What blogger do you secretly want to be best friends with?

Can I cheat like Eloise did? 😄 I’m already best friends with Eloise (Highly Improbable Blog), Trey (Incorrigibly Cheerful) and Olivia (Refreshing Spirit), and have been since before we all created WordPress blogs. 🙂  However, many bloggers I’d like to be best friends with are already talking to me so it could happen yet. ;D

The questions that Tina asked:

  1. What made you want to start a blog? Several of my best friends had blogs, (Links to their blogs above 😉) and it seemed like a good idea. 🙂
  2. What is your favorite TV show? This is hard. 😄 Probably Scorpion. It’s exciting and it usually doesn’t get as gory or disgusting as many TV shows do. (Even if a lot of what they do is probably… not actually possible. 😂)
  3. What is your favorite food to cook? Mac & Cheese or Spaghetti. Because usually it turns out edible… 😄
  4. What is your biggest fear? I would say being up high or being under water or being in tight spaces, because all of those do scare me but… not as much as losing someone I love. So I’m going with that.
  5. Where were you born? Arkansas, USA! Born and raised, and still live here. 🙂 Country girl at heart. ♥

Now, for the nominations, I know that some of your have received these awards before, so I’m going to do this a bit differently – instead of nominating someone for one award, the nominees can pick which one of the awards (or tag) they would like to do. No pressure to accept any though. 🙂 So here we go:

One Lovely Blog Award

Thank you so much, Shattered In Him, for nominating me for the One Lovely Blog Award! 🙂 I’m sorry it took me so long post it; I got stuck on thing #5 and it took a while to come up with two more things about me. 😄

The Rules

  • Thank the person that nominated you and leave a link to their blog
  • Post about the award
  • Share 7 facts about yourself
  • Nominate at most 15 people
  • Tell your nominees the good news!

7 Facts About Me:

Coming up with facts was harder than I thought; I didn’t want to repeat myself. 😄

  1. I can write backwards almost as easily as forwards. Not just in print, but in cursive. It’s strange. And it freaks out some people. And annoys other people, when I give them a message and they have to go find a mirror to read it… 😂
  2. I’m shy. I’ve posted 95 posts (now 96 posts – I’m so close to 100!) on my blog thus far, and I never thought I would make even close to that milestone. I was so scared to try this new thing called “blogging” at first. I posted twice in April of 2016 and then completely dropped off the face of the blogoshere in May. 😄 It’s easier to talk to people in text and I finally decided to go for it and began posting again in June. 🙂 I’m so glad I did!
  3. Until last month, I had not seen Frozen. I am probably one of the few people in America who hadn’t. I identify with Anna so much. Even though I’m shy, I have a tendency to ramble to people I know well and am a bit of a klutz too. Okay, maybe a total klutz. If only I had that red hair…😉
  4. I love snow, but we don’t get it much where I live.  ♫♪ Yes, I want to build a snowman. Come on let’s go and play. I never see snow anymore. It’s snow I’m waiting for. I wanna make a display… ♪♫ (Sing to the melody of “Do You Want To Build A Snowman” from the Frozen soundtrack. 😂) We finally got about a half an inch last week though! It wasn’t enough for a snowman, unless it could be five inches tall; and when I tried that, it was a powdery, doesn’t-stick-together-to-build-anything-or-even-throw-at-people snow. 😛 At least it was pretty to look at.
  5. I like learning new words. When I read books, I write down the words I don’t know and then look them up and make a list so that I can memorize them. Catawampus, ignominious, lackadaisical, loquacious, mellifluous, pusillanimous – I think cacophony is probably my new favorite right now. 😄
  6. This is my sixth award! I feel so honored. 🙂
  7. I live in the Natural State. #southerngirlatheart

The Showers of Blessing

Blogger Recognition Award

Thank you so much, Shower of Blessings, for nominating me for the Blogger Recognition Award!  😀

The Rules:

  1. Write a post to show your award.
  2. Give a brief story of how your blog started.
  3. Give two pieces of advice to new bloggers.
  4. Thank whoever nominated you, and provide a link to their blog.
  5. Select other blogs you want to give the award to.

A brief history of how my blog started:

This blog came into existence because a few of my friends have blogs, and I thought it might be a good idea. 🙂 I intended this blog to be half Christian posts and half book reviews and everything else, but lately, I’ve been posting pretty much all Christian topics so I suppose it has evolved into a mostly Christian blog. I do have a few boo reviews planned for the future though. They are Christian books. 🙂

Advice to new bloggers:

When I started blogging, I new practically nothing about it. I was so lost. Thankfully, my friends helped me out with the setup and figuring out how things work. I discovered this post by TheDaddyBlitz when someone reblogged it many months ago and it was a life saver. If you have a few minutes to spare, I recommend checking it out. 🙂 Until I read that post, I didn’t even now I had an admin panel! So my first piece of advice would be to read that post, if that counts. 🙂

Secondly, read a lot of blogs so that you can like a lot of blog posts and comment on blogs! That’s how I discovered a lot of blogs, when they like me or comment on my posts. 😀

Nominees, in no particular order:

Faith Hope Food

Shattered In Him

The Comfortable Coop (or The Comfortable Coop)

Pete Gardner’s Blog (or Pete Gardner’s Psalms? I wasn’t sure which to link to. 😄 )

Mixed and Modest

Faith, Sigh and DIY

Encouragement and Poetry

Hannah Grace

Aspiring Thoughts

Wrestling With Faith, Dancing With Jesus (Or Song of Virginity; I wasn’t sure which to link to. 😄 )

No pressure to accept, but have fun if you do! 🙂

Mystery Blogger Award

“Mystery Blogger Award” is an award for amazing bloggers with ingenious posts. Their blog not only captivates; it inspires and motivates. They are one of the best out there, and they deserve every recognition they get. This award is also for bloggers who find fun and inspiration in blogging; and they do it with so much love and passion.                        Okoto Enigma

Thank you for the nominations, Betcha Didn’t Know and Showers Of Blessing for nominating me for this really award. Within a day of each other too! 😀 Hehe, this was such a great birthday surprise. 🙂

Rules for the nominees:

  • Display the award logo/image on your blog
  • List the rules.
  • Thank the blogger who nominated you and provide a link to the nominator’s blog.
  • Mention the creator of the award and provide a link as well
  • Tell your readers 3 things about yourself
  • Answer 5 questions from the nominator
  • Nominate 10 – 20 people
  • Notify your nominees by leaving the nomination link in the “comment” of their blog
  • Ask your nominees any 5 questions of your choice, with one weird or funny question (specify)
  • Share the link(s) to your best post(s)

Three things:

  1. I am writing a Christian young adult novel during NaNoWriMo this month.
  2. I am fascinated by dreaming; especially the whole lucid dreaming and dream control concepts, both of which appear in the novel I’m writing.
  3. It is hard to come up with new things about myself that I haven’t repeated. 😄

First, Betcha Didn’t Know’s questions:

  1. Do you have a role model?
    1. Jesus. 🙂
  2. What is your phobia?
    1. Probably failing the people I love, or failing God. That makes me very anxious and panicky.
  3. What dish do you cook the best
    1. Haha, this means something that I don’t usually burn or wreck. 😄 I’ll say macaroni and cheese. 🙂
  4. What is your favorite song
    1. I don’t know if I can narrow it down to just one. I am really obsessed with The Wonder Of It All by Point Of Grace right now. 🙂
  5. Do you believe in ghost? ( weird question)
    1. If you mean spooky creepy dead people who want revenge like in a horror movie, then no. But if you mean the spirit of a person who died, then I guess yes? But I don’t think that they “haunt” people. 🙂

And now, Showers of Blessing’s questions:

  1. Have you had a crush on your teacher as a teenager?
    1. I can say absolutely with 100% certainty, “No.” (I was home-schooled so my teacher was my dad. Ew. 😄 )
  2. If you had the power to change one thing in your past, what would that be?
    1. In one personal situation, I would stand up for myself. I’m not outspoken enough, and sometimes I let people run over me like a steamroller and then said people walk all over me like I’m part of the pavement. X)
  3. Which country is your next dream vacation, and what made you want to go there?
    1. Canada. It’s beautiful and it would be on the way to my dream vacation spot in the U.S., Alaska. 🙂
  4. Do you think it is okay to keep secrets even between best friends?
    1. Depends on what the secret is and who the best friend is. 🙂
  5. If you could be transformed into something else, what would be your preference, and why?(weird)
    1. I once dreamed (it was a lucid dream too) that I could shape-shift, so I chose  to turn into a tiger. I could run free through the wood, and chase my “prey”, which was fun. I guess I’m a true cat lady at heart. 🙂

I don’t know if they were the “best” posts of mine, but I really liked how My LifeguardStained Glass, The Lord Is My Strength And My Shield, and He Shall Strengthen Your Heart turned out. 🙂

I wish I had the time right now to type out nominees, but I only have about five more minutes to be online, so I will tag everyone reading this to answer the same questions I answered. 🙂  Have fun! ❤

The Reader’s Playlist (Tag)

The Reader’s Playlist (Tag)

Thanks to Hannah for tagging her readers! I have been looking forward to filling in the answers, but I’ve been so busy lately that I’m just now finishing Part A. (I hope to do Part B and C sometime soon!) Also, I’ve been nominated for the Mystery Blogger Award (twice! :D), so look for that in a few minutes! 🙂 (I would wait between posts, but WordPress is refusing to load the new posts or any of my drafts at home, so I’m using WiFi right now, and I don’t know when I’ll be back or when it will start working again. o_O )

The Rules

  • Answer as many or as few questions that you like. Hannah suggests if you want to attempt them all that you turn it into a few daily/weekly posts, probably organized as Hannah has. Make sure you have fun with it!
  • Thank the person who nominated you and leave a link to their post.
  • Leave a link to Hannah’s post so that others can see all of the questions!
  • Tag the post with the tagline ‘The Reader’s Playlist Tag’ so that Hannah can see all of your lovely posts!
  • Use the logo as above in your post if you want! However, Hannah asks that you don’t modify it, please!
  • Tag a few friends to take part in the tag at the bottom of your post!
  • Feel free to leave a link in her post to your responses.

Part A: Books

  1. Cassette = A classic that you love to read:

Does the Narnia series count as a classic? (My copy is all the books in one massive volume.)

  1. Rewind = Most shocking moment in a book

Probably (slight spoiler alert) when Cinder’s car crashed in Cinder, by Marissa Meyer. Like… she spent the whole book up to that point fixing it up, and then in just a moment, all that hard work went up in smoke.

  1. Vinyl Record = A book that had you in a spin, through sheer confusion!

Probably the Jennie McGrady Series #1, Too Many Secrets. It was such a great mystery!

  1. Repeat = A book/series you read over and over again

Savy / Scumble / Switch by Ingrid Law. They never get old.

  1. Stop = A book/series that made you stop and think

Hinds Feet on High Places by Hannah Hurnand. Oh my. I had to stop so many times to think and look at Bible verses during this one. Also, I had to stop and just ponder the poetry // songs in it. It was great. 😄 I just finished it, actually.

  1. Broken Record  = A book that you have tried and tried to finish but just cannot

Little Women by Louisa May Alcott. Now, it had nothing to do with the book itself. I loved the style and the story. It just seems like it’s so long (my book has part one and part two) that I somehow end up putting it down and choosing another book. XP

  1. Shuffle = Books in a series/companion novels that you DIDN’T read in chronological order

Nancy Drew by Carolyn Keene. I read them in no order at all. I’m still reading them out of order. 😄

  1. Sheet Music = Books with endings that didn’t quite seem finished and require a (currently non-existent!) sequel

I think that Switch by Ingrid Law might qualify, though the author usually writes a companion novel, not a sequel. But there were a few unanswered questions that I desperately want to know the answers to!

  1. Play = Currently Reading

Black by Ted Dekker. Looks like it’s a thrilling ride!

  1. CD Case = Favourite Book Blurb

Once Upon A Summer by Janette Oke. It pulled me right in and got me so excited to read it. 🙂

  1. Artist Bio = Autobiography that you have read or want to read

Elizabeth Elliot. I’ve heard that she lead quite an amazing life!

  1. Pop Music = A book that you loved that (deservedly) had a big hype around it

Twilight by Stephanie Meyer. Hehe, I was so obsessed with that series and the whole franchise when it came out. X)

13. Add To Queue = Your TBR

Black by Ted Dekker, Seeing and Savoring Jesus Christ by John Piper, Pursued (Jenny McGrady Series #3), Close Your Eyes (Sierra Jensen Series #4), The Screwtape Letters (C.S. Lewis), When Dreams Come True by Eric and Leslie Ludy, When Calls The Heart by Janette Oke, Through Gates of Splendor by Elisabeth Elliot and SO MANY MORE. I am drowning in books; it’s great. 😄

And now I tag all of my readers who want to participate in this awesome tag! 😀 This was so fun, Hannah; thanks for creating this tag and tagging your readers! 🙂
