Wolf To Sheep

Wolf to Sheep

I had heard stories about wolves in sheep’s clothing
I tried to beware of such things, but seeing nothing

One day whilst I was busy nitpicking,
By keeping an eye out for ill-fitting,

Undeniable Truth struck me down,
My eyes up opened and I found…

I was one of them.

I stripped the fake wool from me,
Fell to my knees, asking for mercy

God, change me from my evil wolfish ways
I want to be a sheep for all of the rest of my days

In that moment, His grace alighted upon my wolf skin
He had changed it to white wool, no longer a slave to sin

Go your ways: behold, I send you forth as lambs among wolves. (Luke 10:3)

Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which He hath purchased with his own blood. For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. (Acts 20:29)

Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves. (Matthew 10:16)

Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. (Matthew 7:15)

A little background on this one – someone on WordPress spoke about a wolf in sheep’s clothing, and then I remembered how Paul started out which led to writing this. For some reason, I had previously read the verses about being sent out as sheep among wolves as a type of warning, like be on guard for the tricky wolves, but then it occurred to me that Paul started out as a wolf, and yet, God struck him down on the road to Damascus and used Him to do so much. So yes, we should wear the armor of God (Ephesians 6:11) to protect ourselves from the wolves, yet, keep in mind that wolves can change – and that’s why God sends sheep among wolves. So that packs of wolves will have the opportunity to become flocks of sheep – because He loves them too. ❤

Also… whoever created that image on Pixabay was a genius. 😂

  1. Beautifully created post, with powerful image and message. Thanks for posting this. We are to be sheep and yet live among the wolves so that they will see the message enacted out daily. It is hard because we are often afraid of the wolves, but His strength and His grace are stronger than anything the wolves can fling at us. Praise His Name.

  2. Love this! ❤ Amen to that lol this poem struck a chord in me because it's so easy to be on the lookout for wolves yet we can be are own worst enemy sometimes lol I'm my own worst wolf 😉 Thanks for sharing!

    • Thank you! ❤ Yes, exactly!!! Me too, haha. I'm so glad that you enjoyed this! 🙂

P.S.: "Someone on WordPress" was you, so thank you for inadvertently inspiring this. 🙂 You were the one who mentioned the wolves in sheep's clothing: https://achristianinbloom.wordpress.com/2017/11/29/a-prayer-for-a-cool-head/ Haha. But for some reason, my brain went in a TOTALLY different direction than what you wrote. I had to stop reading, write the poem, and then come back to your post because I couldn't even concentrate until I wrote it down. Funny how inspiration hits like that. 😅

  3. We are send to the wolves; AS LAMBS… quiet scary wouldn’t it be that Jesus will accompany us ! 😀 It is amazing to know/and see that when we “go out in Jesus name” (towards the wolves); God can bring you into contact with suffering sheep were you can share God’s power with 😀 because with the “Holy Spirit” in us we can do everything! 😀

        • Yes indeed! 🙂 Sometimes for me, it’s hard to be still and listen. He is a big God, but speaks with a still small voice sometimes. Reminds me of 1st Kings 19:11-12.
“And He said, ‘Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the LORD.’ And, behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the LORD; but the LORD was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the LORD was not in the earthquake: and after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.”

  4. 🙂 I totally understand your “feeling/emotion”. God is SO AWESOME and POWERFUL but sometimes it feels quiet hard to hear Him. Reading Gods Word helps me a lot, but I believe that God wants to speak to us more clearly as He sees our hunger to hear from Him. So I’m praying and asking God to reveal his specific will to me. Maybe He’ll give me a dream or vision? I gave it to God and I know I’ll get my answer because our God lives! He’s not a God somewhere in the universe. He is my Father 😀
    Have a blessed day!!!
