The Secret Place, The Sacred Space

During times of struggle, I go to the secret place
Yes, I flee from the world out there
I fall to my knees in prayer
While I’m troubled, I dwell in the sacred space

As the pride of lions
Circle, ready to devour the flock
He will set me on His rock
He will hide me in His pavilion

He answered in the secret place of thunder
I dwell in the shadow of the Almighty
I fall before His throne on my knees
In awe and childlike wonder

You hide my prayers in Your presence, the secret place
You put my tears into Your bottle
And seal them in the sacred space
They are written in Your book
You keep them to Yourself, where they are safe
I bow myself before You, my Lord –
Almighty Lord, You are my Holy hiding place!

O God, You are more awesome than Your holy places.
The God of Israel is He who gives strength and power to His people. Psa 68:35

You number my wanderings;
Put my tears into Your bottle;
Are they not in Your book? Psalm 56:8

For in the time of trouble
He shall hide me in His pavilion;
In the secret place of His tabernacle
He shall hide me;
He shall set me high upon a rock. Psalm 27:5

You called in trouble, and I delivered you;
I answered you in the secret place of thunder;
I tested you at the waters of Meribah. SELAH Psalm 81:7

You shall hide them in the secret place of Your presence
From the plots of man;
You shall keep them secretly in a pavilion
From the strife of tongues. Psalm 31:20

He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High
Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. Psalm 91:1

“But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly. Matthew 6:6

I was also inspired by this song. ❤

I’d also like to thank Ruth for helping me with edits to this. ❤

I hope to get back into blogging; lately, I haven’t slept well and it’s affecting my concentration, meaning it’s harder to write. 😅  Also been spending many hours gardening. 😀 I hope to catch up with you all soon! 🙂

Crimson Drops

They have put a thorn of crowns on His brow
Crimson drops roll down His cheeks
And under the purple robe
His back bleeds

Lift up the thorns, still dripping clots of gore
They scourge Him creating a river of red
That splashed upon the floor
Without remission, His blood shed.

Flung to the hard ground
To wood, hands and feet nailed –
He made not a whimpering sound
Nor did He flinch or flail.

They pierced His side
Running forth blood and water
On that cross, He died
And this pleased the Father.

The spotless Ram,
Perfect sacrifice
The blood of the Lamb,
Lord Jesus Christ!

Mark his brow-they have put about it a crown of thorns, and the crimson drops of gore are rushing down his cheeks! . . . But turn aside that purple robe for a moment. His back is bleeding. ..They lift up the thongs, still dripping clots of gore; they scourge and tear his flesh, and make a river of blood to run down his shoulders! This is the shedding of blood without which there is no remission…They fling him to the ground; they nail his hands and feet to the transverse wood, they hoist it in the air…Blood from his head, blood from his hands, blood from his feet. They pierce his side, and forthwith runneth out blood and water. — Charles Spurgeon

Usually, Bible verses inspire me to write, or nature. But this quote… I couldn’t help it, I had to write about it. 🙂

Happy Easter! ❤

Asking, Seeking, Knocking

I thought I knew You
But knew another instead
Junk food for the soul
Not nutritiously fed

Eating.

My spirit grew fat on the sugar
And my health deteriorated
On the outside I looked healthy
But inside the lies saturated

Dying.

Then I was fed with Truth
Junk food tasted sweet
But I didn’t want to die –
I drank the milk and moved to meat

Fighting.

I felt as if I weren’t on solid ground
But were standing on sinking sand.
Like the floor was not sound
And I had no helping hand.

ASKING.

What is truth
And what is lies
Who is the Rock?
Oh hear my cries!

Praying.

I trusted no one, feeling like
I went from a dream to awake.
Is this You or is that You?
Which is real? What is fake?

SEEKING.

You will reveal Yourself
To those who seek
That was a promise
To the humble and meek.

KNOCKING.

I looked through the pages
And read the words
Ate the book, found You
The milk did not turn to curds

Worshipping.

Your words are not sour
You truly bring life to my spirit
Your words are sweet to taste
And keep me from the pit

Singing.

I praise You for bringing
Your light into me
And saving my soul
And shining through me

Living.

I will follow You
Death cannot find me
Perhaps I’ll sleep for a time
But You will raise me

Everlasting.

I feel like I need to apologize to mom… using her delicious sundaes and Oreo cake as an example of unhealthy foods. 😅  They sure were good though! And that’s also mom’s ground turkey stew and seasoned chicken and veggies.

Good stuff. And she made enough for an army. I ate it for lunch and dinner every day for days and I’m not complaining. It was a delight. 😋

Hope you enjoyed and see you around! ❤

Mighty To Save

What is sin?
Ignorance is not bliss
I didn’t question –
Temptation kissed

I took his hand,
Not knowing what pain
Would lie ahead
But God saw the stains.

What was a crime?
Sin gently fogged my vision
Smeared them with grime
Clouded my lens…

My glasses once clear
Were no longer.
Sin grinned and sneered
Oh, I wished I’d been stronger!

Blinded by guilt –
I was too far gone, I knew
But His blood has been spilt!
He paid the price, this was true!

Oh my Lord, what have I done?
I fall to my knees and look above –
May I let go of what He hates,
And embrace what He loves!

No condemnation in Jesus –
I repented and from sin, turned away.
There is no guilt in His grace,
Forgiveness is here to stay!

It wasn’t too late for me –
He pulled me from the grave.
Death where is your victory?
Oh, Jesus is mighty to save!

This is part two of a series, with last week’s I Let Them In being the first part. And this will have a part three! Who knew? I didn’t. XD I intended for next week’s post to stand alone, but this poem and last weeks came to me. Praise Jesus. 🙂 See you soon! ❤

Flirting With Sin

I flirted with sin,
Even though I was already taken.
I’d made my vows then,
And I planned to keep them.

Sin flirted back, an affair
I didn’t mean to ask for.
Now sin owns me; I can’t bear
to go on anymore!

Oh, my Lord, by Sin I’ve been marred!
I meant forever when I said it,
I didn’t mean for it to go this far!
Now I’m heading for the pit,

Only You can save me,
Only You make me clean!
I fall to my knees
And watch the sin flee!

Your saving power is incredible!
My face is on the floor,
My heart, filled
With Your love once more.

I can’t contain it within me –
Thank You for Your love,
Thank You for Your mercy,
Both from You above!

There will be a part two to this next week, so stay tuned! ❤

He Has Delivered My Soul In Peace – Psalm 55 inspired poem

Please don’t hide from my plea;
O Lord, hear my prayer,
As I mourn vociferously,
Show me Your loving care!

The voice of the enemy,
The wicked oppress me,
They cast iniquity upon me
And in their anger, hate me.

My heart is painful within
The terrors of death fall on me,
Fearfulness and tremblin’
Horror has overwhelmed all of me.

Oh, if I had a dove’s wings,
I would fly away to be at rest
I’d go far away from evil things
And remain in the wilderness

I would hurry in my escape, you see;
From storms and chaos, for I have seen
Violence and strife in the city
Of where I had once been.

They go about it night and day,
In their midst are mischief, evil, and sorrow,
Deceit and guile walk the streets to play
And it will likely be the same tomorrow.

It was not an enemy that shamed me –
For if it had been, I could have persevered.
But it was a friend, and equal, who named me –
Not someone who hated me; but one I revered!

I have fond memories of sweet conversations,
Walking in Your house in each other’s company.
Let them die, for wickedness is in their mansions
And let them be sent to a place of misery.

As for me, I will call upon Thee
And my Savior shall rescue me.
Evening, morning, and noon I talk to Thee
And cry aloud, and He shall attend to me.

He has delivered my soul in peace
From the many battles that raged inside me
You shall hear, and never will cease
You shall afflict them, for they don’t know Thee.

The acquaintance has put his hands
Against such as to be at tranquility.
Why he did these things, I don’t understand.
He broke his promises to me.

Smoother than butter were his words
But war was in his heart
His words softer than oil, yet he drew swords
Only to tear me apart

I cast my burdens upon Thee, Lord; You’ll sustain me.
You shall never allow wickedness to win; I trust in Thee.
But you, O Lord, will bring them down to the pit.
Deceitful men shall not live out half their days!

Psalm 55 inspired. 🙂 (To read the psalm that I based this on, click here.) I was unsure about tremblin’ but… I didn’t see another way to make that line work. 😅

The others in this series are: Psalm 88 (Draw Nigh!), Psalm 96 (The Lord Of Hosts Reigns Always!), and Psalm 01 (Those That Follow Thee). Because I never seem to write in order. 🤣

Refine Me

Oh Lord my God, refine me
Into metals of purity
Let all that is unholy
Drip from me as dross.
I count the world loss
As I pick up my cross.
Pour me into Your cup and fill –
Make my will the shape of Your will!
Write eternity on my heart with Your quill.

And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people: and they shall say, The LORD is my God. Zechariah 13:9

And He said to them all, “If any man will come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.” Luke 9:23

“Behold, days are coming,” declares the LORD, “when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah, not like the covenant which I made with their fathers in the day I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, My covenant which they broke, although I was a husband to them,” declares the LORD. “But this is the covenant which I will make with the house of Israel after those days,” declares the LORD, “I will put My law within them and on their heart I will write it; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.” Jeremiah 31:31-33
