Reach upon the shelf
Extract an intriguing title
And find a comfortable place and get a hot
Drink – prepare for an adventure.

Books —
Open to view the pages,
Open a portal to new worlds
Keep traveling from my comfy chair
See the universe from different perspectives.

Learn about interesting places,
Events from the past or present, or places that
Exist in the mind and dream, or
Relive memories,

Live other’s lives
Instead of just your own –
Become a new person.
Realize you can also create
Other worlds, places, times, and perspectives –
Sit down, open a blank journal, and just write.

In addition to this being a free verse poem, it is also an acrostic. If you noticed this butย were second-guessing on the last two parts, “Leer Libros” is “(To) Read Books” in Spanish, so that was an attempt to repeat the phrase in Spanish, haha.ย ๐Ÿ˜Š

Welcome Spring!

It is week 63 of 100 Word Wednesday, and here is the photo prompt and my response. ๐Ÿ™‚ If you want to join in the fun, just click the link! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Flowers bulbs in a basket, for sale
Will be in bloom before you know
Yes, those flowers in the pail
Soon will give a spectacular floral show

“Welcome” is painted on the wooden sign,
Winter says its heartfelt goodbye as it goes
Welcome Springtime, welcome sunshine
As Winter takes with it the snows

Buy and bring them to their new place
Set the sign by the garden gate
Plant the bulbs along the fence with grace
And then comes the hard part – the wait

Soon the bulbs shoot up flowers
Greeting the warmth of the sun
And the April Showers
Waiting is over, the show has begun!

A Walk Down Church Street

It’s week 56 of 100 Word Wednesday and here is the photo and my response. ๐Ÿ™‚ If you’d like to join in the fun, just click the link! ๐Ÿ˜‰

A Walk Down Church Street

Rain
Pouring from the sky
The umbrella tries
In vain
To keep me dry

Puddles
Form as splashing droplets
Collect with dirt on pavement
Muddles
My shoes, to my discontent

Reflections
Like mirrors on the street
I watch myself watching me
In the intersection
Glad that I wasn’t hit by a taxi

Misty morning
What a beautiful way
To start off my stay
Sojourning
Near The Gooderham Building today

Eager to explore
The city of Toronto
We should go sightseeing pronto!
I joyfully implore,
“Where next in Canada should we go?”

Like The Roe

It is week four of 100 Word Wednesday, and here is the photo and my response. If you want to join in, click the link! ๐Ÿ™‚ This week it is 100 exactly! ๐ŸŽŠ

As the hart longs for the water brook,
So longs my soul after Thee, my Lord!
With my whole being, do I look,
And I find You are the Living Word!

Because of You, the deaf talked,
The sick and ill were healed,
The disabled got up and walked;
The Glory of God, revealed!

Let our hearts be filled with joy,
And leap around like the roe
In the wood; for this Boy,
Over two thousand years ago,

Came and died for us,
So that He may forgive!
I thank you, my Savior Jesus;
Because of You, I may live!

*Psalm 42:1 and Isaiah 35:6 inspired the first and second stanzas. ๐Ÿ™‚

Freed and Saved

This is week three of the 100 Word Wednesday Challenge, and here is the photo and my response. ๐Ÿ™‚ Click the link to join in. ๐Ÿ˜‰ According to Microsoft Word, this is 106 words.

I adore this image. It tied my brain in a knot trying to figure it out. Great photo, BikurGirl! ๐Ÿ˜Š

Iโ€™m down a cavernous hole.
Feels more like a prison.
Bars keep hostage my soul,
But I remember, He has risen!

The walls are slick and steep,
I donโ€™t know how to get out;
He reminds me I am His Sheep,
But it isnโ€™t my efforts that count!

My Shepherd won the battle.
Sin and Death canโ€™t touch me!
Chains that once held me, rattle.
He died in my place and set me free!

He breaks the bars that restrained so long
He gently pulls me out of the hole
His right hand is gentle, yet strong
In one motion, He freed and saved my soul

Over The Horizon

This is week two of the 100 Word Wednesday Challenge, and here is the photo and my response. ๐Ÿ™‚ If youโ€™d like to participate, click here to read BikurGurlโ€™s guidelines. ๐Ÿ˜‰ According to Microsoft Word, this is 99 words. (Only one word shy and I can’t find a place to add one more word to this! ๐Ÿ˜‚)

I look at the sun going down over the horizon
See that the water is so peaceful presently
It reminds me of the time when the Son
Spoke to it and calmed the raging sea

He also calmed the booming thunder
And He walked on that azure liquid
Leaving all who saw Him in wonder
Because it was as if He were on a solid

This causes me to ponder and to think
He heroically died and rose again for love
That this ball of fire in the sky may sink
But not ever the Son in heaven above

In The Wood

This is week one of the 100 Word Wednesday Challenge, and here is the photo and my response. ๐Ÿ™‚ If you’d like to participate, click here to read BikurGurl’s guidelines. ๐Ÿ˜‰ According to Microsoft Word, this is 106 words. (It was originally 120 but I managed to trim it back a bit. ๐Ÿ˜Š)

In the wood, murmurs abound
We hear the insistent whisper
For us to come draw near
To hurry and follow the sound

Trees tower into the cerulean sky
The wind rustles leaves below us
That winter striped from the deciduous
Leaving empty branches reaching high

Mother Natureโ€™s blanket cracks
Beneath Fivefinger shoes
I’m amazed by the hues
His creation takes me aback

This is where I prefer
To connect with the One
And His only begotten Son
Who created this grandeur

In nature, itโ€™s easier to be still
And know that He is God
I realize it may seem odd
That here, He voices His will
