An April Day At Mamaw’s

Welcome to part two of April in Photos! 🙂

Mamaw’s daffodils! At least, I think they are. May not be. The blooms on these are so small. She let me dig up some of the bulbs so maybe I’ll have some next year. 🙂

I found some wildflowers along the path while walking to the lake.

I’m not sure what these are, but they are really pretty and have different shades of purples and pinks.

These were everywhere around the lake.

These are SO TINY.

The pink veins in the petals of this one are really neat.

I’ve never seen a flower with oddball petals like this one. Three smalls and a long one. It’s not symmetrical at all.

I heard a plane, so I thought I’d test out my zoom. I didn’t expect it to be this clear!

Apparently, there is a resident beaver living on Mamaw’s lake now.

Last photo of the day. Night was starting to fall, and the colors behind this pine were amazing.  A great way to end this post. 🙂

My March 2019 In Photos

Just a quick note, I’ve had a lot going on this past week. I’m behind in reading posts and responding to your lovely comments here. I’m slowly working on it. 🙂 In the meantime, here are some photos! I took a lot of photos in March. Also, coming soon will be A Lovely March Morning, and A March Day At Grandma’s. 🙂 ❤

My allergies started in March. I was sniffing and sneezing a lot. Jackie curled up on my bed and went to sleep. And then I sneezed. I looked around to see if I disturbed her, and… I think it’s safe to say I did. 😆 She looked disgusted with me. She wanted to be in the room with me to snooze, but my allergies weren’t having it. Sorry girl.

The dandelions were back!

So pretty. 🙂

Daffodil! With a little spider hiding underneath. 🙂

A robin! I don’t see many of these around here. I used to see them at my grandma’s though.

My tulips came up! Sadly, they seemed to go dormant before the bloom opened? I don’t know what happened. It was strange. The flower shriveled up and then the leaves stuck around for a while before doing the same. I dug into the pot to make sure the bulbs were okay, and it seemed healthy. I wonder when I bought them, they were on sale and meant for being displayed. I’m wondering if last year they were forced to bloom, and needed this year to gain energy for next year. I’m new to tulips so I don’t know.

Lovely little flower. ❤

Wildflowers! I like the blue color of these.

Vibrant. 🙂

And the veins in the petals of these. ❤

Oh dear! 😀 Haha. I surprised this one when outside. Oops!

I like silhouetting things against a sunrise or sunset.

This was experimental. I tried to get the nebula in the constellation Orion. This was the result. 🙂

The moon and branches! The branches are easy to see though sadly, haha.

And this is another installment of a Month In Photos! Hope to see you later for the other parts to this. 🙂

Treasure Tuesday – 5/07/2019

I wrote this at the end of March and never posted it. Allergies (and I somehow managed to get poison ivy on my hands so I’ve been dealing with the rash for the past week and a half) are keeping me from doing much metal detecting at the moment, so enjoy these from March!

Most of my finds lately weren’t worth posting about. Fencing, aluminum foil, bottle cap, nails… I do have a few notable finds as seen in these photos:

I have no idea. My dad has no idea either. These triangles were all under the electric pole. We think it may have something to do with that. None are rusting or are in bad shape… I may have to find something artsy to do with them. And the one on the left reminds me of a hat. So I may have to make that happen. XD

However, I think the best “finds” weren’t metal. It was seeing God’s creation as winter ends. 😊 I didn’t just take a metal detector outside – I brought my camera too. Here are some of the other non-metal treasures:

If I had known there was what looks like a bird and two squirrels in this tree, I would have taken more photos of it. Happy accident. XD

This gem was waiting for me that morning.

I’m not sure what this is, but there is a lot of this grass stuff and it looked so orange from the morning sun. After this, I accidentally got it all over me. Turns out shaking it will cause it to fly everywhere like dandelions. Good thing I remembered my allergy medicine. XD

Dewdrops made everything sparkle.

Morning sun and a dying leaf? It sounded like it could make a decent photo so I went for it.

HUGE knotty tree! Didn’t find anything under it but the tree itself is pretty incredible.

This wood was such an odd find. The pattern was so strange I got a photo of it.

Wildflowers!

More wildflowers!

At the end of the hunt, this is what I ended up with.  Coax, clamp, metal ring, a metal pipe, and a spoon. I recognized the spoon. It went missing about 15 years ago. One of my dogs stole it and I never found it. Now I know why. They buried it. XD The best find I didn’t need the metal detector for…

Yup. This was sticking out of the ground. Interestingly, the seal doesn’t appear to be broken, so I guess the Coke inside just spewed out? But there is no residue from it. So weird. But it’s a cool glass bottle. I assumed it’s 1980’s or later because there is a faded barcode on it and bar codes didn’t become popular until the 1980s. XD And I was correct. I Googled it and found other bottles that are 1980’s vintage. Of course, those looked a LOT better than this one because they haven’t spent who knows how long buried. XD

(Thanks to T.R. Noble for making this for me! <3)

First Day Of Spring – March 20th, 2018

Let’s celebrate the first day of Spring by marveling at the beauty of God’s creation! Especially the flowers…

Easter Lillies

My mom has these beautiful flowers planted all over our yard. And the fun thing is – different batches of flowers have different colors. The above one, if I remember correctly, was planted around a tree near our driveway.

This one was in the flower bed of my dad’s shop.

These were in the flower bed in front of our house.

These were outside the flower bed at my mom’s gazebo.

Peach Blossoms

This one is also known as a selfie fail. 😂 I had the camera on a tripod and put the camera on timer mode. I ended up having to get on a step-stool to get a proper selfie. And then once I was up there, I saw the bees…

If you look closely, you can see a bee in the center of this photo. Or the backside of one, anyway.

Pear Blossoms

Tulips

I found this beauty at Walmart for $1. Someone messed up and put three tulip bulbs in one pot; it was supposed to be $1 for one tulip. So I guess I got each tulip for 33.333333 cents? Haha. And each tulip is at a different stage of blooming. This is the first one. I expect the next two to bloom at the end of the month or in early April. I hope we have more time the next time we go back to Walmart because I plan to look and see if they made more mistakes… 😅

I love the texture of the petals.

Especially with the sunlight filtering through them.

And the inside is really awesome too.

Wildflowers

You’ve probably noticed that I have a fondness for wildflowers. So of course, I had to get photos of them too. 🙂

We have a few trees in our woods growing wild that have some of the most beautiful pink blossoms!

I don’t know what they are, but I really like them.

Wild violets!

I didn’t see the plant that the flower came from, but we have been getting high winds, so it could have blown in from anywhere. I’ve seen the vines that have these kinds of flowers, but the flowers on those aren’t opened yet.

This is also growing wild. At first, I thought it might be a dogwood, but no other dogwoods are blooming. The blooms remind me of my mom’s apple tree. I would compare them, but it hasn’t bloomed yet. It didn’t bloom last year either. We’re beginning to think it’s dead… but if this is a new apple tree that nature planted, I can’t wait to see if it produces apples this year. 🙂
