Wolf Spider Appreciation Post

I’m back! I didn’t intend to start back posting with photos of spiders, but as it happens, that was the answer to my last post. πŸ˜…

Spiders are interesting creatures. I love that they eat a lot of unwanted bugs, so I don’t kill them. I do shoot them a lot – with my camera.Β  πŸ˜‚ Here is the answer to the last Mystery Photo Friday – along with other spiders I’ve met since then. If spiders aren’t your thing… or you really don’t want to see spiders with babies, spiders having lunch, or spiders having dinner… then I recommend that you don’t scroll down and that you wait for my next post. πŸ˜… I’ll post something prettier next time. πŸ˜‚ Hope to see you when I post something that doesn’t have eight legs. ❀

Mystery Photo Friday Answer – Spider with babies!

A loooooot of babies. 😳

Spider having dinner. 😳

Spider having lunch. 😳

I admit I was a bit startled to find this one. I had my hand on the tire and was rolling it (it’s not on a vehicle) and this spider with its lunch was hiding inside the tire. It came out and almost ended up on my hand. I jumped back and ran to grab my camera. I think it’s eating a pinching beetle? Not really sure. But the spider and the beetle were huge.

See you next time. πŸ™‚

Another Day At Mamaw’s Photoshoot – (answer to Mystery Photo Friday)

The answer to the Mystery Photo Friday from 01/01/21 was… a spider! πŸ˜€ This was only one of several photos I took that day.

Because of covid, only one person could accompany Mamaw into the heart doctor’s office. So I stayed outside in the truck and finished a book and looked at the scenery. I saw this:

And saw the erosion. Once they were back out at the truck, I got out, stretched my legs:

And you can really see the erosion in this photo. The way the roots grow was really neat to see.

Once back at Mamaw’s house, I saw the spider and also, these flowers! πŸ™‚

Before we left, I spotted this little guy just hanging out on the screen door.

He was so cute, I had to get a bunch of shots of him! 🀩

He was so tiny! A little baby! ❀

This is to give an idea of how tiny he was. He jumped onto my hand. ❀

Hope you enjoyed the photos, and I’ll see you around. πŸ™‚

My October 2018 in Photos

(Somehow the post posted back in time to the 14th, so I updated it to today. Sorry if any of you got this post twice!)

So… here is another installment of a month in photos so you can find out what I’ve been up to! Because obviously blogging hasn’t been something I’ve done much of lately… πŸ˜… (As for November, what I’ve been up to can be summed up in just one sentence: National Novel Writing Month and I’m behind… πŸ€ͺ)

This isn’t all of it – the post was so long, I decided to split it into multiple posts. If you are wondering about these other surprise things, some will be talked about tomorrow and two surprises will be talked about on Wednesday, to save you guys from a post that goes to the moon and back. I’m going to make up for not posting much for two months by burying you guys this week.Β πŸ˜†

When trying to hook up the garden hose, I came across this web. I don’t know how well you can see it, but there are actually two large spiders in the photo. One is in the web and the other is above it.

Here is a close up of the one inside the web. Needless to say, I decided to wait until later to use the hose. πŸ˜† They were gone, web and all, the next day.

Wildflowers!

More wildflowers!

Mushroom! The outside was very hard like plastic. Didn’t expect that.

Two feral cats. There is a feral cat population down the road, and when the neighbor’s dogs got out, these poor kitties must have run down here for safety. I’ve seen them hanging around every once in a while since then.

I think these are azaleas. Which is weird because I thought they were a spring blooming plant…

Other mushrooms I saw over the month! Thought they might look good as a collage to cut down on the already super long length of this post…

We got lost a while back when taking my grandma to the doctor and stumbled upon a Western Sizzlin.

I approve of most of the decor. Some of it I could do without, but I’m going to show the fun stuff first. πŸ™‚ This scarecrow and the one at the top of the page were both from the same place. I put it up there so that the first image people see won’t be the spider…Β πŸ˜†

The bullhorns were cool. It gave the place a very… western feel. Which is to be expected out of a Western Sizzlin… 🀣

My favorite of the bullhorns – sweetheart of the west! 😍

And of course, boots, lassos, and the like.

An old record! I don’t know how well you can read it, but it says, “Gone But Not Forgotten – Patsy Cline / Johnny Horton / Cowboy Copas.” I’ve never heard of the last one.

There were so many things to look at.

And they had so much food. This is actually misleading because on the left is a mirror and it reflects the number of food bars there, making it look like more than there is. This introvert kept avoiding whoever was following me, trying not to get in their way, and once I thought I was going to bump into them, I almost apologized – until I realized it was my own reflection. πŸ˜‚

They had little autumn decorations everywhere. It was lovely.

I was nuts about this one! 🀣

And the western theme was cool.

Me in the mirror. πŸ˜…

The chandelier was made out of antlers. Very crafty and unique, though I doubt they got the antlers from the deer after they dropped the antlers naturally… 😝

A waterfall! Hard to see the water in this image though.

Even more decor.

And even fun decor in the bathroom! I didn’t realize the bathroom stall door was open when I took this – sorry for the reflection of the toilet. πŸ˜… But I like the mirror. Very crafty!

Now for the decor stuff, I didn’t care much for… and I mean that literally. Stuffed.

Yup, there we go. I don’t know what a few of those are. I know the deer. Looks like maybe a fox and a bobcat? 🀨

Let’s end this on a better note. Flowers I saw at during the month that aren’t wildflowers! 😍

Hope to see you tomorrow for the next installment. Hope you all are having a good November thus far. πŸ™‚

Blood Red Lilies

I guess this is the last in the series of lily posts. (The first were the yellow lilies and the second were the orange lilies in case you missed it.) I didn’t get as many of the process this time for some reason. I thought I had but when the yellow and orange lilies bloomed, I guess I forgot to get more photos of these. Oops.

Babies!

Medium size bud – with a guardian. πŸ™‚

Almost ready to bloom…

Hello, red Asian Lily! 😍

I love the rich red color. I didn’t expect these to bloom until this week, but they bloomed on the 31st of May.Β  These are the first lilies I bought about three years ago. πŸ™‚

Special Delivery

It was just like any ordinary weekday. I went outside, did a few chores, and then went on to the mailbox to see if the mail delivery person left anything in there. Here is what I found:

Hopefully the mail delivery person didn’t leave that. 😜 Most people would have panicked; but if you’ve seen other blog posts of mine, you know that my reaction was to run back to the house and grab my camera. I wanted to get a shot of him with his legs not all squashed up like that, so like any normal person would do (πŸ˜‚), I found a stick and I poked him with it to make him move.

Ah, there we go. XD He was a very fast, spider. He almost rivaled a jumping spider. Even I jerked back when he moved at lightning speed, and I am not usually startled by spiders so much. But there was a split second when I thought he jumped on the small stick I was holding and was coming for my hand. πŸ˜…

And of course, I had to get a macro shot. The legs are really spiky like the stem of a rose. Really cool. I almost wanted to touch it to see if they are indeed spikes or if they are hairs. Almost. But I don’t think the spider would have appreciated that. πŸ˜‚ He looks so dangerous, but he probably isn’t. At least, hopefully he isn’t… especially since I was poking him with a stick… 😜

A couple of weeks later, I did the same routine and found this in the mailbox:

A moth! Isn’t that cool?

I wanted to see how close I could get before he flew away:

I didn’t want the mail delivery person to flip or accidentally hurt it, so at this point, I touched it so it would fly away. Here he is on the nearby tree he landed in:

He blends in fairly well, doesn’t he? And this concludes this episode of “Strange Things I’ve Found in the Mailbox.” Now if you’ll excuse me, it’s about time for the mail to be delivered; I think I’ll go check it… πŸ˜‰

The Biggest Spider…

I saw the biggest spider the other day…

…Happy April Fools Day! 🎊 Yeah, the spider wasn’t really that big. It was about as big as a quarter. XD While doing a bit of tidying up, I discovered one of my old toy trucks. Elizabeth over at The Comfortable Coop wrote this post about the true nature of spiders and my mom connected the dots, “Why not put the truck in one of your photos to make the spider look huge?” So I did. πŸ˜‚

Have a great weekend! β™₯
