Rain, rain splatters on the windowpane
And it falls mercilessly as
I peer outside
No signs of stopping
Outside becomes brighter as the wind blows
Puffy clouds away
Storm has stopped, and I see a rainbow
This was in response to the Weekend Writing Prompt #51, Raindrops. The poetry challenge was to do an acrostic for the word raindrop, so here it is. If you would like to join in the fun, here is a link to the submission guidelines for the anthology. The deadline is August 10th. 🙂
In response to the photo prompt, Shapes… circles! Here in Arkansas, we’ve been getting a lot of rain; so much, in fact, that few schools were closed due to flooding last week. I went outside to take some photos of the flooding and got stuck out there during a shower. Instead of running inside like a normal person, I hunched over the camera to try to shelter it from the water and took these photos because I thought it might be fun to see the circles as the raindrops hit the water. 😄
It’s week 56 of 100 Word Wednesday and here is the photo and my response. 🙂 If you’d like to join in the fun, just click the link! 😉
A Walk Down Church Street
Pouring from the sky
The umbrella tries
To keep me dry
Form as splashing droplets
Collect with dirt on pavement
My shoes, to my discontent
Like mirrors on the street
I watch myself watching me
In the intersection
Glad that I wasn’t hit by a taxi
What a beautiful way
To start off my stay
Near The Gooderham Building today
Eager to explore
The city of Toronto
We should go sightseeing pronto!
I joyfully implore,
“Where next in Canada should we go?”
🎊 Happy New Year! 🎉
2016 is almost over. There are some things I wish to leave behind. And yet, there are other things I wish to discover. And I tell of these in rhyme. 🙂
Rain On Me
My heart grieves in depressed gloom,
Withers away as plants in a famine;
When it desperately wants to bloom,
Rain on me; bring me to life again!
Hear my prayer, O Lord, hear my cry;
I know you never will forsake me,
During all of the hard times, but why?
Why do you allow such difficulty?
In You, I fully trust and believe,
But I am so very tired and thirty.
You’re the only thing that can relieve
And remove my sins; I drink insatiably.
I know the Living Waters has hydrated,
And my sins will be washed away,
My once weary soul shall be elated,
I may not feel happy now, but I pray:
Let the heavens open and rain on me,
Fill me with You so I will not thirst;
From worldly worries and sin I’ll be free!
When in reality, I deserve the worst.
I thank You, Lord, for giving
Your Beloved and Only Son;
So that I may actually go on living,
To You, there is no comparison.
