Sunrises Of The New Year

(Couldn’t sleep, so I’m posting this early. 😅) The first week of 2019 came in with colors. Several days were rainy, but the few that weren’t were amazing. I thought about waiting for the January In Photos post, but I decided I couldn’t wait that long to share these. I’m too excited. 😂 Also, I didn’t compress these images as I usually do to save space –  want these to be in the best quality possible. So without further ado… I present the morning of the New Year.

The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows His handiwork.  (Psalm 19:1 NKJV)

The heavens declare His righteousness, and all the peoples see His glory. (Psalm 97:6 NKJV)

His glory covered the heavens, and the earth was full of His praise. (Habakkuk 3:3 NKJV)

O LORD, our Lord, how excellent is Your name in all the earth, Who have set Your glory above the heavens! (Psalm 8:1 NKJV)

And a couple of shots of the foggy mornings after that:

“I have wiped out your transgressions like a thick cloud and your sins like a heavy mist. Return to Me, for I have redeemed you.”  (Isaiah 44:22 NASB)

And here is the morning of the 6th! It was the most incredible yet!

“Yours, O LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, indeed everything that is in the heavens and the earth; Yours is the dominion, O LORD, and You exalt Yourself as head over all.” (First Chronicles 29:11 NASB)

(I can’t help it, now I’m going to revert to giving some commentary.) I love the clouds here. Also, see that speck on the top of the tree in the center? I almost didn’t.

It was a bird! “Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?” (Matthew 6:26 NKJV)

The clouds kept getting more amazing. Didn’t think I could like it any more than I already did, but it just kept getting better and better.

The name of the LORD from the west, and His glory from the rising of the sun; when the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD will lift up a standard against him. (Isaiah 59:19 NKJV)

And brighter and brighter! The city had no need of the sun or of the moon to shine in it, for the glory of God illuminated it. The Lamb is its light. (Revelation 21:23, NKJV) Just think – if the sky and heavens are this brilliant, how much more will the Creator of this masterpiece shine?!

Finally, with this photo, I stopped because I could tell the sun was close to breaking out, and I didn’t want to damage my camera’s lens.

How has your New Years been so far? 😊

Book Review: First Love – Renewing Your Passion For God by Bill Bright

First Love: Renewing Your Passion for GodFirst Love: Renewing Your Passion for God by Bill Bright
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

If you started off the new year with a resolution for getting closer to God or restoring your love for God, then you’ll like this book.  I’ve certainly enjoyed it immensely, and it was a great way to start off the new year.

I finished this book in less than two weeks (would have finished it sooner had I not gotten sick in the middle of it 😆) and it was really good. It’s less than 100 pages, so it’s a quick read. He makes so many great points that caused me to stop and ponder before continuing reading. It was a joy to read, and I breezed through the last 50 pages in one day.

One of my favorite quotes from the book:

“He submitted Himself to the most painful and degrading execution men could possibly inflict, just so He could offer His rescue from the kingdom of darkness to the very agents of His suffering. Even today, I feel deep emotion when I consider all that His death on the cross means to me. It might have been me at the foot of that cross, pounding iron nails into His wrists. Even so, He would offer me no less love, no less forgiveness.”

What a loving God. ❤

New Year, New Things

🎉 Happy New Year! 🎊

I hope that you have been enjoying the New Year so far! 😀 Mine has certainly been… interesting. 😅

Along with this new year, I have few new things to talk about.

First, I plan to change my theme soon for a refreshing new look. (My plan was for this to happen on New Years Day and then me getting sick derailed it… 😅 This is also the reason for the lack of posts since Christmas. Sorry, guys, I hope to get back on track soon. I’m much better but the congestion and coughing came after I thought I was better and uuugggghhhh. 😝) So consider this is a warning: if you see wonky things happening such as themes changing, things randomly disappearing, widgets moving from place to place – sorry for any confusion that may result from that. (Because of some cold medicine I took, I slept from 2AM until 6PM the next day for two days in a row; and now my body doesn’t understand when to sleep. Therefore, these changes will most likely happen in the middle of the night or very early morning in the days to come. Hopefully, not many people will notice the craziness that will ensue as I figure out how to set everything up… 😅)
Anyway, I plan to switch from the Booklite theme to the Hemingway Rewritten theme. Maybe. The main reason for the change is that I really like the sidebar menu and the Booklite theme doesn’t allow one. So I know that it will be a theme with a sidebar. And a header. I really like my header. 😊

Second, in the meantime, I went ahead and messed with the fonts and added new widgets at the bottom of the page now (if you are viewing in the reader, click here and scroll to view) – a new tag cloud widget and a Goodreads widget! I mentioned a couple of weeks ago that I had a Goodreads account, and I finally figured out how to put it on my blog so that you all can see what I’m reading. I must warn you, they span many genres. I don’t stick to one kind. 😄 So you’ll see Christian fiction and nonfiction, Mysteries, Young Adult, and Children’s books. I know, I’m in my mid-twenties I should have outgrown Children’s books already, right? Nope, not for me. 😄 I’ve always loved these and I love writing for this genre too.

Third, I’m reading My Utmost For His Highest by Oswald Chambers (looks like you can get it daily free here: https://utmost.org/ if you want to read it too) and Streams in the Desert by Mrs. Charles E. Cowman this year, which I haven’t tried to do before – reading a yearly devotional, that is. I’ve read a month-long devotional once, but not a year-long one. And two devotionals at once, I know, what am I thinking? Haha. Read one in the morning and one at night. We’ll see if I succeed in keeping up with it. So far so good. 🙂 But this is only January 2nd and I’m spending a lot of time in bed because of this cold which means extra time to read… so that doesn’t mean much. 😂

Fourth, I want to thank my parents (who got the same cold… from me… I’m so sorry both of you, that is one Christmas present I never wanted to give you 😅 😅 😅) for being so patient with me while I’ve been sick. I want to give a shout-out to my mom. Like I said above, she got the same cold I did, and even though she did, she fed my cats when I couldn’t go outside because the cold air made my cough so much worse, and I appreciate it so much. And I’m sure that they do too. (I can’t wait until I can start feeding them myself again though – I miss spending time with and cuddling my furry babies! <3) I mean, take a look at some of them. (Pictured below: Catalina, Simone, Rabbit, Jay, Firecracker, Radar, Belle, and Dottie.)

😍❤😍❤😍❤😍❤😍❤😍

OKAY, OKAY. Maybe I won’t go outside and cuddle the last one. Philip the Opposum isn’t that cuddly. But he also isn’t camera shy if you give him food… 😂

Well, I managed to get completely sidetracked and off-topic as soon as I mentioned cats. Typical… 😂 Anyway, I’ll be back soon with a new theme (I hope) and a new poem that I’ve been working on! Have a great Tuesday! ❤

Rain On Me

🎊 Happy New Year! 🎉

2016 is almost over. There are some things I wish to leave behind. And yet, there are other things I wish to discover. And I tell of these in rhyme. 🙂

IM004196

Rain On Me

My heart grieves in depressed gloom,
Withers away as plants in a famine;
When it desperately wants to bloom,
Rain on me; bring me to life again!

 raindrops-on-bulb

Hear my prayer, O Lord, hear my cry;
I know you never will forsake me,
During all of the hard times, but why?
Why do you allow such difficulty?

still-waters-autumn

In You, I fully trust and believe,
But I am so very tired and thirty.
You’re the only thing that can relieve
And remove my sins; I drink insatiably.

Caterpillar and Blossoms

I know the Living Waters has hydrated,
And my sins will be washed away,
My once weary soul shall be elated,
I may not feel happy now, but I pray:

raindrops-on-green-onions

Let the heavens open and rain on me,
Fill me with You so I will not thirst;
From worldly worries and sin I’ll be free!
When in reality, I deserve the worst.

raindrop

I thank You, Lord, for giving
Your Beloved and Only Son;
So that I may actually go on living,
To You, there is no comparison.
