My January 2019 In Photos

Welcome to another Month In Photos! I know, I’m really late with this – I hope to catch up over the next few weeks with this series. ๐Ÿ™‚

When raking leaves at my grandma’s, I spotted this really cool mushroom.

And another fungus…

Some sort of cocoon! No idea who was in there though.

And another cocoon!

Mushroom growing not just through the fence but —

….around the fence. o_O How strange!

Did this fool you? It fooled me. I thought I let Jack out of the house. Turns out, there is another cat who looks almost exactly like my Jack. But the mustache is too far to the left. (Compare below.) I haven’t seen this little guy since that day, but he gave me a shock!

This is my Jack. โค He’s growing up!

This cat was hanging around when I first found Jack, but she wasn’t old enough to be the mom. I think she belongs to our neighbors. Interestingly, she also has a mustache… but to the left.

Mamaw gave me some little flower bulbs to plant. I don’t think they will bloom this year, but they came up strong and the leaves beautiful, so I think it stored enough energy for next year. ๐Ÿ™‚

This is a dog someone abandoned at my Mamaw’s. We hoped she would go home, but after a while, it became apparent she had no home to go to. Mamaw decided to keep her. We tried to name her Lily, but she wouldn’t come to it. Mamaw called her Blackie, and she responds to that. She is still not tame, but she did nose my hand a few weeks ago, so I hope she is warming up to us. ๐Ÿ™‚

My November 2018 In Photos

…yes, November. That is how far behind I am with this. O.o I’m going to catch up this month, hopefully! I’ve been so busy lately.

Weird mushroom I found at my grandmas.

Another angle.

Close up – it somehow grew around the leaf.

And it was oozing. O.o

Flowers! When in town, I spotted these outside a business. I don’t know what kind these are but they are lovely. โค

Closer up. ๐Ÿ˜€

Autumn leaves. โค

It was so cold, the mudhole froze over. There is a leaf in the center. XD Aaaand…

We got snow!

It was just a dusting but it was enough for pretty scenery.

I probably took too many photos of the snow. XD

The top of the gazebo and our house covered in snow – and the autumn leaves in the same shot. โค

Dew and snow on the same leaf.

Snow on the banister.

Thanksgiving moon – weird that it had a ring around it.

Up close, it was hazy.

Squirrel! This one wagged its tail at me. I think he was upset.

Some trees I thought were cool looking.

Another squirrel! This one gave me the privilege of allowing me to watch him eat a nut.

And here he is eating it. ๐Ÿ™‚

This concludes another episode of a month in photos! Hope to be back soon for December’s. ๐Ÿ™‚

Treasure Tuesday finds – 11/13 – 11/27

(Sorry if you are getting this twice – it posted back in time AGAIN. I think I will have to break down and learn to use the new editor because the old one posts the time I created the draft instead of immediately like I told it to.)

Welcome to another week of Treasure Tuesday! ๐Ÿ˜

Firstly, this just shows that junk is going to happen. Screws, bolts, washers, tin foil (I have a brand new hatred for tin foil this week… but this is last week AND the week before that, so I’ll try not to get ahead of myself.) Also, a shotgun shell. And a random strip of metal. And my mom’s old boiler. (I like to feed the opossums sometimes and someone took off with the old boiler. I found it in the middle of the woods. Weird. That thing is heavy for an opossum.) And lastly, one thing that I don’t have a clue what it is. To save from scrolling through the boring stuff, I made a gallery to log those finds and show the exciting stuff in full size. It gets more exciting, I promise. ๐Ÿ˜†

But I’m reminded to,ย “Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: for where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” (Matthew 6:19-21) For me, it’s not about finding gold, though if that happened, I think I would pass out from the shock. It’s about the hunt, and the journey I go on, whether I find coins, gold, or random junk. ๐Ÿ™‚

Here is the first exciting thing found. There was speculation. My friends and I had guesses. A superhero’s lost belt buckle? Gas cap off The Flash’s car?ย  Etc.

Here is the backside of this find:

Sure didn’t look like a gas cap on that side though. However, my dad finally figured out what it really is:

It’s the decorative piece on a tire. ๐Ÿคฃ

And this is the car it came off of. It’s my mom’s old car that she drove before I was even born. It’s a Manta Opel. (Not to be confused with Opal, which is a rock. I had a hard time finding this online thing because of that spelling error. Then I actually read it off the car. ๐Ÿ˜‚) So this was the find of the week.

This is the find of the previous week:

I had to ask my dad what this was, and then explain what he just said into terms I could understand. ๐Ÿ˜† It looked like a small motor to me, but he said it’s the thing that starts the motor. And it’s off a car from the 1940’s – 1970’s, and he has no idea how it got out in the middle of our woods… He said over the years, he’s had about three cars that had this part, but he obviously wasn’t fixing those in the middle of the woods. Therefore, our guess is that over 50 years ago, someone came out here and their car broke down. They had to replace that thing and they heaved it into the woods out of frustration on it breaking and stranding them in the middle of the woods. ๐Ÿคฃ

Now, for a few things I found that were not metal…

Holes in trees! ๐Ÿ˜

This is a closeup. There was water in inside it!

The area I was detecting in. ๐Ÿ™ƒ

A split in another tree. (Close up of the one at the top of the post.)

This tree is HUGE. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

Another tree with a hole in it. ๐Ÿ˜…

An experimental shot up into that large tree. I like the silhouette of this one. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Mushrooms, of course. Have to make sure I have at least one photo of mushrooms… ๐Ÿ˜‚

And that sums up two weeks worth of metal detecting! ๐Ÿ˜Š

My October in Photos – iPod Edition.

*Tuesday was busier than I expected and I didn’t get to post, so that post has been moved to next Tuesday. (Because it is the start of a series for Tuesday.) However, here is the one scheduled for Wednesday!

Surprise #1 for this post, my uncle gave me an iPod for my birthday! Here are the photos I took with it during October – and a few from November because I can and it relates to surprise #2. ๐Ÿคฃ And I’m sure you will be flooded with more of surprise #2 in November in photos so I think it’s okay to share some of them now. Because I can’t really contain my excitement…

Cucumbers! They are now pickled.

Autumn leaf!

The same wildflower as Monday’s post – I wanted to see the comparison in how well the iPod captured the flower in comparison to my camera. This thing doesn’t do too bad with macros…

Really freaky looking cucumber.

Mushrooms!

…okay, I can’t take it any longer. The next surprise… I HAVE TO TALK ABOUT THIS SURPRISE OR I WILL BURST.

Meet Thaddeus “Jumping Jack” Braveheart – he is surprise #2! ๐Ÿ˜ A feral cat showed up under my dad’s shop porch and the kittens were so hungry. I felt bad and tried to feed them, but they were too scared. Except for this one.

The next day, the mother had moved them, and I haven’t seen the mother or the other kittens since. But this little fellow was hiding in some leftover drainage pipe that we’re storing at our storage barn. Abandoned! I thought about leaving him to see if the mom would come back, but I heard the coyotes and I was afraid the neighbor’s dogs might get out again…

Plus, he did this when outside. He wrapped around my leg, not wanting me to leave him. And he followed me everywhere. My heart melted…

The plan was to get him weaned and litter box trained so we could give him away, but…

I think I can speak for all everyone when I say that we fell in love with him. Besides being cute (LOOK AT THAT BLACK MUSTACHE ON HIS NOSE AAAHHHH), he is a handful, curious, gets into everything, and is very entertaining with his playful antics.

Unfortunately, he thinks that my hands and feet are also toys to be played with. We’re breaking him of this habit. We hope. ๐Ÿ˜…

He discovered chairs last week. This is him in the chair.

He is so lovely. Most of the time. ๐Ÿ˜† Sometimes he has more energy than he knows what to do with. I’ve seen him try to climb the walls. And try to eat his own tail.

Here he is in my sandals. ๐Ÿ˜

Sorry for the blur, but he was very active. ๐Ÿคฃ He has my turtle, Speedy. And my iPod cord…

A quick break from the kitten because I’m trying to post these in chronological order. ๐Ÿ˜‚ My mom and I grabbed a burger at McDonald’s, and she spotted this. The sign says, “DO NOT BLOCK FIRE EXIT.” Someone decided not to heed that warning, it seems… O_o

Praying girl on Sunbeam bread! I heard from a friend that this was a thing this time of year. Never noticed it before. But there she is – praying. It also had the caption, “Not by bread alone” I love Sunbeam even more now… ๐Ÿ’œ

Now, returning to Jack…

Jack trying to eat my stuffed dog. It’s a cat-eat-dog world out there, folks… ๐Ÿ˜‚

I don’t usually post photos of me, but here we are. We’re on my bed. I was playing with the filters and Jack came along and fell asleep there beside me. ๐Ÿคฃ

Jack trying to attack the people in the TV screen. ๐Ÿคฃ

In my lap again. Refreshing Spirit called him, “An early birthday present from Jesus.” Refreshing Spirit and T. R. helped name him. Thaddeus came from Refreshing Spirit and Braveheart came from T. R. ๐Ÿ™‚ His nickname is Jumping Jack because he has this weird thing where he jumps out of stuff like a Jack in the Box. And he jumps in general. It’s very amusing. ๐Ÿ˜†

Sprawled out on my electric throw. He really likes my throw. And my mom’s electric throw. And my dad’s electric throw…

HE IS SO CUTE. He almost blends in on my zebra print though.

And here is why I am 4K words behind in writing my NaNoWriMo novel… ๐Ÿคฃ

My October in Photos will be concluded next Tuesday! See you guys later! ๐Ÿ˜Š

My October 2018 in Photos

(Somehow the post posted back in time to the 14th, so I updated it to today. Sorry if any of you got this post twice!)

So… here is another installment of a month in photos so you can find out what I’ve been up to! Because obviously blogging hasn’t been something I’ve done much of lately… ๐Ÿ˜… (As for November, what I’ve been up to can be summed up in just one sentence: National Novel Writing Month and I’m behind… ๐Ÿคช)

This isn’t all of it – the post was so long, I decided to split it into multiple posts. If you are wondering about these other surprise things, some will be talked about tomorrow and two surprises will be talked about on Wednesday, to save you guys from a post that goes to the moon and back. I’m going to make up for not posting much for two months by burying you guys this week.ย ๐Ÿ˜†

When trying to hook up the garden hose, I came across this web. I don’t know how well you can see it, but there are actually two large spiders in the photo. One is in the web and the other is above it.

Here is a close up of the one inside the web. Needless to say, I decided to wait until later to use the hose. ๐Ÿ˜† They were gone, web and all, the next day.

Wildflowers!

More wildflowers!

Mushroom! The outside was very hard like plastic. Didn’t expect that.

Two feral cats. There is a feral cat population down the road, and when the neighbor’s dogs got out, these poor kitties must have run down here for safety. I’ve seen them hanging around every once in a while since then.

I think these are azaleas. Which is weird because I thought they were a spring blooming plant…

Other mushrooms I saw over the month! Thought they might look good as a collage to cut down on the already super long length of this post…

We got lost a while back when taking my grandma to the doctor and stumbled upon a Western Sizzlin.

I approve of most of the decor. Some of it I could do without, but I’m going to show the fun stuff first. ๐Ÿ™‚ This scarecrow and the one at the top of the page were both from the same place. I put it up there so that the first image people see won’t be the spider…ย ๐Ÿ˜†

The bullhorns were cool. It gave the place a very… western feel. Which is to be expected out of a Western Sizzlin… ๐Ÿคฃ

My favorite of the bullhorns – sweetheart of the west! ๐Ÿ˜

And of course, boots, lassos, and the like.

An old record! I don’t know how well you can read it, but it says, “Gone But Not Forgotten – Patsy Cline / Johnny Horton / Cowboy Copas.” I’ve never heard of the last one.

There were so many things to look at.

And they had so much food. This is actually misleading because on the left is a mirror and it reflects the number of food bars there, making it look like more than there is. This introvert kept avoiding whoever was following me, trying not to get in their way, and once I thought I was going to bump into them, I almost apologized – until I realized it was my own reflection. ๐Ÿ˜‚

They had little autumn decorations everywhere. It was lovely.

I was nuts about this one! ๐Ÿคฃ

And the western theme was cool.

Me in the mirror. ๐Ÿ˜…

The chandelier was made out of antlers. Very crafty and unique, though I doubt they got the antlers from the deer after they dropped the antlers naturally… ๐Ÿ˜

A waterfall! Hard to see the water in this image though.

Even more decor.

And even fun decor in the bathroom! I didn’t realize the bathroom stall door was open when I took this – sorry for the reflection of the toilet. ๐Ÿ˜… But I like the mirror. Very crafty!

Now for the decor stuff, I didn’t care much for… and I mean that literally. Stuffed.

Yup, there we go. I don’t know what a few of those are. I know the deer. Looks like maybe a fox and a bobcat? ๐Ÿคจ

Let’s end this on a better note. Flowers I saw at during the month that aren’t wildflowers! ๐Ÿ˜

Hope to see you tomorrow for the next installment. Hope you all are having a good November thus far. ๐Ÿ™‚

My August 2018 In Photos

Welcome to another edition of My Month In Photos Life Update! ๐Ÿ™‚ Here is my month of August in photos:

How on earth are you supposed to obey this sign?! Are we supposed to yield to people walking out of the sky – and do it upside down? o_O

I really liked these flowers outside my grandma’s doctor’s building. ๐Ÿ™‚

My feet. XD This was supposed to be a bit of an artistic shot.

When taking my grandma grocery shopping after the doctor appointment, we saw this sign. If you look closely, you can also see me in this photo… XD

Mushroom! ๐Ÿ˜€

Boy did I have a surprise the next day. This is the same mushroom as above.

Almost missed this moth – he looks like a leaf!

I found this snake in the mud hole one day. I hope he wasn’t eating the tadpoles for breakfast…

Looked out the window of my grandma’s doctor’s building, and saw this picnic table on the roof of the next building. Scary place to have a picnic…

This was also inside the doctor’s building. Kind of random and fun. XD

When we got back to my grandma’s, I visited the lake. And while taking a walk, it started to rain. XD

Stopped on my way back inside to photograph a flower. XD

And then stopped on my way back inside to get a photo of the storm clouds. XD

Some birds made a nest in one of my mom’s hanging baskets. I meant to get more photos as they grew, but I didn’t and then they flew away. ๐Ÿ™‚

More mushrooms! We got quite a bit of rain at one point in August, and mushrooms were everywhere.

My uncle and mom took my grandma out to eat for her birthday. These signs were hanging in there. Kind of random to have these hanging together like that, but I approve. XD

Another mushroom! It rains, we get mushrooms! XD

Pink sky! ๐Ÿ˜€

You know it’s going to be an interesting day when you go out to check the mail and almost step on Blake. This is a far off shot of the ground where Blake was. Don’t see him? Neither did I. XD Here is a close up:

Yes. Blake is a Black Rat Snake. Fairly large one in fact, haha.

Pink flowers at my great aunt’s house! Wish I knew what they were; I’d like to have some of these…

Mushrooms at sunset. ๐Ÿ™‚

When I went to check my squash plants, I got this treat – watching a bee pollinate the flowers. ๐Ÿ˜€

Eggplant bloom. ๐Ÿ˜€ I really like them.

I put some food my cats didn’t eat out in the woods in case someone else wanted it. I expected feral cats and opossums. But when I checked back that night, I found raccoons instead. o_O

Blue wildflowers at my grandmas! ๐Ÿ˜€ I love this shade of blue.

Lots of mushrooms. I know, I’m showing a lot of mushrooms. These weren’t even the half of them. My dad can attest to this fact – he sat through all the photos when backing them up on his computer and saw every mushroom shot I took. XD

My mom gets a special mention – she made pickles! They are SOOOO GOOD. โค
