Meeting Sweet William and Visiting Miss Spiderwort

Last week, I met Sweet William (thanks Refreshing Spirit for identifying these), and it was such a pleasure! I’d also like to introduce all of you to them:

I really like these! I think I planted them a year ago. I bought a box of wildflower seeds (many varieties in there – maybe 10 or so) and put them around the irises and daffodils, but I didn’t think any of them came up. All I saw were weeds. I considered pulling them all up (still convinced they were weeds), but I never got to it. Turns out… they just had to mature! πŸ˜ƒ Aren’t they lovely? This is one time I’m glad I put something off. πŸ˜† I hope to meet them again! ❀️

This is Miss Spiderwort! Or well… just Spiderwort. πŸ™‚ They are infiltrating at this point. I may have to move some of them to a new location. Their flowers are pretty, but they are taking over the irises and lilies.

Hope you all are having a great Friday! ❀️

My February 2019 In Photos

This little dog stayed at my grandma’s for a short time. If you read January’s post, you probably saw Blackie. Someone abandoned her at my grandma’s, and she took her in. This little dog obviously belonged to someone, unlike Blackie. She came around a lot for a couple of weeks and then left. He was adorable! ❀

Mom’s daffodils started blooming and I had too much fun photographing them.

She has different colors! πŸ˜€

Side view. Some not even opened yet. πŸ™‚

She has SO MANY. πŸ˜€

Close up of the inside of the flower!

Mom made a giant heart sugar cookie for Valentine’s day. It was amazing. πŸ˜€

Mom’s peach tree bloomed! πŸ˜€ It’s now covered in peaches.

My grandma’s lake at dusk. πŸ˜€

Looking up into the trees around our house. πŸ™‚

Laptop batteries! The one on top is my old one. The one on the bottom is the new one, which is now in the laptop I’m using to type this post. πŸ™‚ My old one didn’t hold a charge anymore, so my parents bought me this one. It lasts anywhere between 3 and 6 hours on a charge, depending on what I’m doing when using it. It’s amazing, I can go online anywhere without a cord now. πŸ˜€

An Ode To Spring

An Ode To Spring

I look at all the flowers, eager to please
The attentive eyes.
They come in red, green, purple, and blue.
The pollen falls like snow from the trees
Covering everything in a yellowish hue.
And as I see, I cry
Tears of irritation, and I know I will sneeze.

I wrote this years ago and used it as a signature on a message board; I don’t know why I didn’t share it here before now.Β πŸ˜„ The rhyming pattern is a little different than most things I’ve written, but it was fun to do. πŸ™‚ This is for all of the allergy sufferers out there.

The flowers in the top photo aren’t mine; they were at a local nursery, and I thought that they were so pretty! ❀ You can see more allergy season poetry and more flower photos from that outing last year here. (Yes this has been in my drafts since last year. XD)

This is the pollen index for my state at the beginning of the week. Sadly, it’s at 10.1 where I live. Crazy high. I’m coughing constantly, having drainage, sneezing, my throat is sore… it’s almost like having a cold without the feeling awful part. I think it’s actually trees, not flowers I’m allergic to. But I’m not 100% sure. Whatever it is, I hope the pollen stuff is gone soon. XD

If you want to see the pollen index for your state, here is the website I used: Pollen Index

My September 2018 In Photos

Welcome to another edition of My Month In Photos life update! πŸ˜€ Here is my September in photos…

A day at my grandmas – it was a beautiful day. πŸ™‚

I saw a grasshopper that day and it was fun to try to get a photo. Not many came out because the wind blew the grass around, which caused him to blur.

I like strange and unique trees and limbs and found this one when walking to her lake.

I found this snake in the woods near our house. πŸ˜„

Blake! (Black rat snake.) He seems to hang around our yard a lot. And he is very patient with me. πŸ˜†

These are some of the best photos I got of him this time.

He posed for me. 😁

In this last one, I was trying to show how long he is because the others are headshots. He’s long!

Praying mantis! He was on top of my mom’s car when we were trying to leave one day, so I moved him to a stick and got photos while her car warmed up.

I visited Narnia. It’s a lot more… modern than I thought it would be. πŸ€ͺ

Mushroom!! 😁

Made enchiladas (recipe by T.R. – click here to view) and they were so easy and good! I added extra sauce and cheese because I like extra sauce and cheese. πŸ˜‹

Purple wildflowers! Not quite ready to open yet. They close at night and it was nearing dusk when I took this.

Wild berries! πŸ˜„ Probably poison…

Hot peppers!! 😁

My newest lemon tree had a friend for a day. Then it died. Whatever kind of mushroom this is, they are there one day and dead the next. Crazy.

Finally got a photo of the purple wildflowers above with the petals open. πŸ˜€

Puffy clouds! 😁 I like how the sun was shining on them.

A different kind of grasshopper. Or something. The one above is green and this is brown. So it may not be a grasshopper at all. But it hops… 🀣

Autumn is coming…

I met a snail! And it was friendly. πŸ™‚

Ripe tomatoes! 😍

My newest sweet potato plants – and the frog guarding them. 🀣

Went outside in the middle of the night and took this. πŸ˜€ I didn’t expect it to be this clear.

Went out again in the morning and took this. Not as clear as it was at night but it still came out.

Pine cones! 😁 When they start falling, I’m going to gather some and paint them. Then it will start to feel like Christmas is coming…

My August 2018 In Photos

Welcome to another edition of My Month In Photos Life Update! πŸ™‚ Here is my month of August in photos:

How on earth are you supposed to obey this sign?! Are we supposed to yield to people walking out of the sky – and do it upside down? o_O

I really liked these flowers outside my grandma’s doctor’s building. πŸ™‚

My feet. XD This was supposed to be a bit of an artistic shot.

When taking my grandma grocery shopping after the doctor appointment, we saw this sign. If you look closely, you can also see me in this photo… XD

Mushroom! πŸ˜€

Boy did I have a surprise the next day. This is the same mushroom as above.

Almost missed this moth – he looks like a leaf!

I found this snake in the mud hole one day. I hope he wasn’t eating the tadpoles for breakfast…

Looked out the window of my grandma’s doctor’s building, and saw this picnic table on the roof of the next building. Scary place to have a picnic…

This was also inside the doctor’s building. Kind of random and fun. XD

When we got back to my grandma’s, I visited the lake. And while taking a walk, it started to rain. XD

Stopped on my way back inside to photograph a flower. XD

And then stopped on my way back inside to get a photo of the storm clouds. XD

Some birds made a nest in one of my mom’s hanging baskets. I meant to get more photos as they grew, but I didn’t and then they flew away. πŸ™‚

More mushrooms! We got quite a bit of rain at one point in August, and mushrooms were everywhere.

My uncle and mom took my grandma out to eat for her birthday. These signs were hanging in there. Kind of random to have these hanging together like that, but I approve. XD

Another mushroom! It rains, we get mushrooms! XD

Pink sky! πŸ˜€

You know it’s going to be an interesting day when you go out to check the mail and almost step on Blake. This is a far off shot of the ground where Blake was. Don’t see him? Neither did I. XD Here is a close up:

Yes. Blake is a Black Rat Snake. Fairly large one in fact, haha.

Pink flowers at my great aunt’s house! Wish I knew what they were; I’d like to have some of these…

Mushrooms at sunset. πŸ™‚

When I went to check my squash plants, I got this treat – watching a bee pollinate the flowers. πŸ˜€

Eggplant bloom. πŸ˜€ I really like them.

I put some food my cats didn’t eat out in the woods in case someone else wanted it. I expected feral cats and opossums. But when I checked back that night, I found raccoons instead. o_O

Blue wildflowers at my grandmas! πŸ˜€ I love this shade of blue.

Lots of mushrooms. I know, I’m showing a lot of mushrooms. These weren’t even the half of them. My dad can attest to this fact – he sat through all the photos when backing them up on his computer and saw every mushroom shot I took. XD

My mom gets a special mention – she made pickles! They are SOOOO GOOD. ❀

Blood Red Lilies

I guess this is the last in the series of lily posts. (The first were the yellow lilies and the second were the orange lilies in case you missed it.) I didn’t get as many of the process this time for some reason. I thought I had but when the yellow and orange lilies bloomed, I guess I forgot to get more photos of these. Oops.

Babies!

Medium size bud – with a guardian. πŸ™‚

Almost ready to bloom…

Hello, red Asian Lily! 😍

I love the rich red color. I didn’t expect these to bloom until this week, but they bloomed on the 31st of May.Β  These are the first lilies I bought about three years ago. πŸ™‚

Glowing Orange Lilies

I posted last week about my yellow lilies, but these orange ones actually opened first.

I didn’t expect any of my lilies to bloom until the beginning of June. Last year, they bloomed on the same day that my dog, Rosie, passed away. (The red ones may wait until June after all, but I was so happy to see the orange ones opening now!) Here are a few shots of them, from babies to blooming:

As you can see, it looks like they may have multiplied! 😁

Looks like the newbies are too young to bloom, but maybe they will next year. πŸ˜€

Now it’s big enough to be seen. πŸ™‚

I little bigger…

BIGGER…

Here is the orange lilies’ spider guardian.Β πŸ˜‚

Opened! πŸ˜€

I absolutely adore these flowers. 😍

And there we go! I hope you enjoyed the journey as much as I did, haha. 😊
