They have put a thorn of crowns on His brow
Crimson drops roll down His cheeks
And under the purple robe
His back bleeds
Lift up the thorns, still dripping clots of gore
They scourge Him creating a river of red
That splashed upon the floor
Without remission, His blood shed.
Flung to the hard ground
To wood, hands and feet nailed –
He made not a whimpering sound
Nor did He flinch or flail.
They pierced His side
Running forth blood and water
On that cross, He died
And this pleased the Father.
The spotless Ram,
The blood of the Lamb,
Lord Jesus Christ!
Mark his brow-they have put about it a crown of thorns, and the crimson drops of gore are rushing down his cheeks! . . . But turn aside that purple robe for a moment. His back is bleeding. ..They lift up the thongs, still dripping clots of gore; they scourge and tear his flesh, and make a river of blood to run down his shoulders! This is the shedding of blood without which there is no remission…They fling him to the ground; they nail his hands and feet to the transverse wood, they hoist it in the air…Blood from his head, blood from his hands, blood from his feet. They pierce his side, and forthwith runneth out blood and water. — Charles Spurgeon
Usually, Bible verses inspire me to write, or nature. But this quote… I couldn’t help it, I had to write about it. 🙂
Happy Easter! ❤
Robin, Carly, and Jo have all nominated me for the 3 Day 3 Quotes challenge, so I’m going to add them together and make this a 9 Day 9 Quotes challenge! 😀 Thanks guys, this is going to be so much fun! (Though I don’t know if I’ll nominate three bloggers each day; I think I’ll nominate one per day since I’m doing 9 quotes.) I posted one yesterday as well for the Sunshine Blogger Award, so I guess this will be 10 days of quotes. (And then Penelope Grace shocks all of her readers by going from posting once a week to posting ten days in a row. 😮 😅)
- Thank the person who nominated you.
- Post a quote for three consecutive days, one quote each day.
- Share why this quote appeals to you so much.
- Nominate three different bloggers for each day.
Fun story… back in 2016, I shared several of my favorite quotes and Bible verses on images I took or made, so I’ll be reposting a few of those. But I also plan to make a few new images with quotes if I have time. 🙂
I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 3:14)
So this one… I like it because it is a reminder that if we keep persisting, we can reach the goal if it is in God’s will. God could have taken the snail and brought him to the ark, but then the snail would have missed out on the journey that God may have had in store. He doesn’t always give us an easy way to get to wherever He asks us to go. We must keep pressing toward the goal. ❤
Here is one of my favorite quotes by Charles Spurgeon, that I combined a while back with a photo I took of a snail. 🙂
Persevere, according to my dictionary, means, “to continue in some effort, in spite of difficulty, and be steadfast in purpose.”
1st Corinthians 15:58: Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.
Persevere for the Lord; for He is worth the effort! 😀 Oh give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; for His steadfast love endures forever! Let Israel say, “His steadfast love endures forever.” Let the house of Aaron say, “His steadfast love endures forever.” Let those who fear the Lord say, “His steadfast love endures forever.” Out of my distress I called on the Lord; the Lord answered me and set me free. The Lord is on my side; I will not fear. (Psalm 118:1-6)
