Angel – Life Updates

This is the post I promised back in my It’s been a while post.

Back in 2004 – yes, 2004, I had her for over half of my life! – my dog brought me a present.

My dog brought me a kitten. We still don’t know where she came from for sure. This is when we first met! We had her in the back of our truck.

Here is the dog who brought me Angel. Her name was Grunt. (Don’t let five-year-old me name animals, okay? πŸ˜‚) Not long after she brought me Angel, she got hit by a car. I was crushed. But Angel helped me get through that. I thank God for bringing me Angel. ❀

Getting back on track, my parents said no animals in the house – that lasted a whole three days. πŸ˜† It started raining so we brought her inside, only until the rain was gone. And she never went back outside again. πŸ™‚ Here, you can see her on dad’s back. One of her favorite places to hang out. πŸ˜‚

She was officially an indoor kitty! And she made herself right at home. πŸ™‚

After we found her, we no longer needed to put a star at the top of the Christmas tree – we had an Angel up there. πŸ™‚

She had her crazy moments. Here we destroyed a paper sack and a newspaper. πŸ˜†

She had such patience – she put up with younger me. In this photo, she let me bury her with my plush animals. Can you find her?

She had favorite places to sleep. On top of this TV was one of those. πŸ™‚

Mom cleaned out the cabinets and started reorganizing and afterward, we couldn’t find Angel. Here is where we found her. πŸ˜‚ After this, Angel wasn’t allowed in the kitchen much unless we were present.

Mom washed the towels and put them back in the drawer and here is where we found Angel. πŸ˜‚ She started opened drawers and cabinets and emptying everything – or sleeping on stuff we didn’t want her on. πŸ˜‚ My parents bought baby locks for the drawers and cabinets after this.

If we couldn’t find her – she liked hanging out on top of doors. Just had to be careful when closing doors. Didn’t want to accidentally smash a paw or knock her off the door. πŸ˜‚

One of my favorite photos of her. Makes me laugh every time. πŸ˜‚ I caught her mid-yawn.

These two are two of my other favorite photos of her. πŸ™‚ Those eyes!

I thought making this a collage of the two of us over the years might cut down on post length. πŸ™‚

The avatar I’ve used for the past few months, this photo, is the last photo we took together before she died. It was New Years Day.Β  Yes, that is the same shirt I was wearing in the first photo of this post. I found it and thought it would be fun to have our photo taken together with it for nostalgic purposes. I didn’t realize it would be our last.

She will be missed. I treasure the memories we made together. ❀

Miss Monkey – Life Updates

This is one of the posts I mentioned I’d make in my It’s been a while post. I lost two cats, Miss Monkey in November from the wild cat population and the other in January, our 15 1/2 year old Angel. This post is for Miss Monkey. πŸ™‚

Miss Monkey is the one on the left. You can see how scared she is. This photo was from before I tamed her. It took a few months before she trusted me. And then soon after, her brother Lion decided to trust me too. (The other cat here is Mama Kitty, you may remember her from the post, Mama Kitty – Life Updates.)

It was really hard to get photos of her because her favorite thing was to be held or be on a lap. πŸ˜… But these are the best ones I saw.

She was also scared of the camera flash. Those eyes!

But then she quickly decided that she didn’t care as long as I was holding her.Β πŸ˜† She started purring and she grabbed onto my shirt because she didn’t want me to put her down. ❀

Of course, it was during a holiday (Thanksgiving) when she got sick so the vets were closed. She died on Black Friday, which was kind of fitting since it was a dark day because of her death. She was 11 when she passed away.

The last thing she did before she died was use every ounce of strength she had and pull herself into my lap (I was sitting on the floor). My heart couldn’t take it. 😭

It was hard to look back through the photos at first because it still hurt so much, but time has dulled the pain a bit. πŸ™‚ I miss her but I can look at these happy memories without bursting into tears now.Β  πŸ™‚

Hope you all have a lovely Monday! ❀

P.S.: As usual, I’m behind on responding to comments but I plan to do that this morning! πŸ˜€

P. P. S.: If you want to see the chickens and Jackie, I’ve been posting photos and videos the last two days on instagram here: https://www.instagram.com/peneloperoyalpayne/ You may also see one that heavily hints at another post I intend to write this week. πŸ˜‰

I’ve had Jackie for a year!

One year ago last Wednesday, this happened:

I can’t believe it’s been a year! My baby has grown up. ❀

She was so little! And for the first six months, I thought she was a boy. Oops.

It has been quite an adventure! πŸ™‚

I took this one this morning! πŸ˜€ Though technically her birthday would have been in September, I think this day is worth celebrating too. ❀

My March 2019 In Photos

Just a quick note, I’ve had a lot going on this past week. I’m behind in reading posts and responding to your lovely comments here. I’m slowly working on it. πŸ™‚ In the meantime, here are some photos! I took a lot of photos in March. Also, coming soon will be A Lovely March Morning, and A March Day At Grandma’s. πŸ™‚ ❀

My allergies started in March. I was sniffing and sneezing a lot. Jackie curled up on my bed and went to sleep. And then I sneezed. I looked around to see if I disturbed her, and… I think it’s safe to say I did. πŸ˜† She looked disgusted with me. She wanted to be in the room with me to snooze, but my allergies weren’t having it. Sorry girl.

The dandelions were back!

So pretty. πŸ™‚

Daffodil! With a little spider hiding underneath. πŸ™‚

A robin! I don’t see many of these around here. I used to see them at my grandma’s though.

My tulips came up! Sadly, they seemed to go dormant before the bloom opened? I don’t know what happened. It was strange. The flower shriveled up and then the leaves stuck around for a while before doing the same. I dug into the pot to make sure the bulbs were okay, and it seemed healthy. I wonder when I bought them, they were on sale and meant for being displayed. I’m wondering if last year they were forced to bloom, and needed this year to gain energy for next year. I’m new to tulips so I don’t know.

Lovely little flower. ❀

Wildflowers! I like the blue color of these.

Vibrant. πŸ™‚

And the veins in the petals of these. ❀

Oh dear! πŸ˜€ Haha. I surprised this one when outside. Oops!

I like silhouetting things against a sunrise or sunset.

This was experimental. I tried to get the nebula in the constellation Orion. This was the result. πŸ™‚

The moon and branches! The branches are easy to see though sadly, haha.

And this is another installment of a Month In Photos! Hope to see you later for the other parts to this. πŸ™‚

An Update On Jackie

Six months ago, this photo happened! Amazing to think my Jackie started off so tiny. o_O Now, getting so big!

And now to the update about Jackie…

I made a mistake. And it’s not the first time I’ve made this mistake, haha.

When responding to comments to last week’s post (when I made the post I still didn’t know, but by the time I got around to responding to comments, I did), I responded calling Jack, Jackie. I also called her Jackie above. I don’t know if anyone noticed the hints in the comments or above on this post, but maybe you see where I’m heading with this. πŸ˜…

Last Tuesday, Jackie started… calling for a mate. And males don’t do that. So… I think Jackie is a girl, not a boy, haha. Therefore, her name will be Jacqueline, and Jackie for short. (We’ll probably bring her to a vet sometime in the near future to find out for sure and get her fixed.)

This also explains why Jackie and Angel don’t like each other at all. Jackie is aggressive toward Angel. Jackie sees Angel as another female who is a threat. And Angel is likewise.

Yeah that’s what I saw through the screen when Jackie saw Angel. πŸ˜… We put up a screen door in hopes they will get used to each other. So far it hasn’t worked sadly.

We weren’t sure at first but we thought it was settled and we had a boy. We were going to bring her to a vet and have them tell us, but we never did. We spent six months calling her a him. It’s going to take some time to get used to calling her a she instead of a he. πŸ˜‚

But whatever the case, of course, I love her. ❀

My January 2019 In Photos

Welcome to another Month In Photos! I know, I’m really late with this – I hope to catch up over the next few weeks with this series. πŸ™‚

When raking leaves at my grandma’s, I spotted this really cool mushroom.

And another fungus…

Some sort of cocoon! No idea who was in there though.

And another cocoon!

Mushroom growing not just through the fence but —

….around the fence. o_O How strange!

Did this fool you? It fooled me. I thought I let Jack out of the house. Turns out, there is another cat who looks almost exactly like my Jack. But the mustache is too far to the left. (Compare below.) I haven’t seen this little guy since that day, but he gave me a shock!

This is my Jack. ❀ He’s growing up!

This cat was hanging around when I first found Jack, but she wasn’t old enough to be the mom. I think she belongs to our neighbors. Interestingly, she also has a mustache… but to the left.

Mamaw gave me some little flower bulbs to plant. I don’t think they will bloom this year, but they came up strong and the leaves beautiful, so I think it stored enough energy for next year. πŸ™‚

This is a dog someone abandoned at my Mamaw’s. We hoped she would go home, but after a while, it became apparent she had no home to go to. Mamaw decided to keep her. We tried to name her Lily, but she wouldn’t come to it. Mamaw called her Blackie, and she responds to that. She is still not tame, but she did nose my hand a few weeks ago, so I hope she is warming up to us. πŸ™‚
