Photographer at heart
Was almost ready to depart,
I’d gathered the supplies.

Cameras, film, and a backpack,
Going old school,ย memories taking me back,
Traveling to the airport, almost makes me cry.

Going to many exotic places,
Where I’ll see many faces –
That is all well and good,

But I do not want to explore,
I want to be home more,
In my own neighborhood!

Is that really so bad?
That right now, traveling makes me sad?
That in pajamas I want to stay?

And crash on the sofa and vent,
Especially during this event,
Trying to write a novel in only thirty days!

Melodies Carry Me Up And Away

(This was supposed to be posted a while ago – apparently I accidentally made it a draft instead of publishing it. ๐Ÿ˜… Oops.)

It’s week 32 of 100 Word Wednesday and here is the photo and my response. ๐Ÿ™‚ If you’d like to join in, just click the link! ๐Ÿ˜‰ The rhyming pattern on this one is a bit unusual; I’m not sure how it happened, it just… did. ๐Ÿ˜…

I love this image, BikurGirl! ๐Ÿ˜

Walking down the street
Sky is blue of cerulean type,
Clouds are puffy and whimsical
Yet my soul is downcast

Was dragging my feet
When tunes threatened to wipe
Away sadness with musical
Splendor; sadness couldnโ€™t last.

Melodies carry me up and away
Dancing along strings
Floating as me it brings,
To places I hadnโ€™t been in years.

Took me back in the day:
Church choir singing,
On those Sunday mornings;
It brought me to tears.

Such sweet songs it was,
Oh, how strings and wood
Can create beauty
And bring nostalgia within!

I felt God’s perfect love
Saw the choices; I could
Go back to His mercy –
And be forgiven.

As The Tropical Vacation Ends

It’s week 30 of 100 Word Wednesday, and here is the photo and my response. ๐Ÿ™‚ If you’d like to join in, just click the link! ๐Ÿ˜‰

I’m on a tropical vacation
Fruit drink elation
In an island nation.

Sipping by the seaside
Watching the tide
Oh, I must confide,

This relaxes the tired and weary.
And days become bleary,
Then eyes become teary

As I realize that the conclusion
Is nearing its completion.
Reality clears my vision

As I down the last little flute
Say bye to grapefruit,
Reality slowly dilutesโ€ฆ

It seems like I arrive and then blink
Glass empty of drink,
Then itโ€™s time to thinkโ€ฆ

Of saying to this paradise, โ€œShalom!โ€
Of going back to sweet homeโ€ฆ
And greeting the garden gnome.

Into The Cool Water

It’s week 29 of 100 Word Wednesday, and here is the photo and my response. ๐Ÿ™‚ If you’d like to join in, just click the link! ๐Ÿ˜‰

What a beautiful coast! ๐Ÿ˜ Haha, this is the third time that mermaids have made an appearance in a 100 Word Wednesday prompt, except this time, the roles have been reversed… ๐Ÿ˜„

Walking along the coastline
I spot a jeweled bangle
Admire the sparkling tourmaline
Put it on, let it dangle

Suddenly I canโ€™t breathe
The air is too thin
And where my legs used to be
Have turned into fins.

How magical! Iโ€™ve had quite enough
Of water being out of my reach.
So I put on the magical cuff,
And I walk down the beach

And into the cool water.
I put the bracelet back on
And I donโ€™t even falter;
This is natural to me!

This may sound strange;
But itโ€™s time for a change!
Goodbye air and land,
Hello water and sand!

An Ode To Antiques

Its’ week 28 of 100 Word Wednesday, and here is the photo and my response. ๐Ÿ™‚ If you’d like to join in, just click the link! ๐Ÿ˜‰

WOW. I love antiques, and those look old. And the pattern on them is exquisite! I love them! ๐Ÿ˜ I especially like the chicken!

Antique teapot, tell me,
What all have you seen?
The turn of a century,
Or just your rising steam?

Old vase, please enlighten;
What have you witnessed?
Many kinds of flora stuffed in,
And near death by a catโ€™s kiss?

Ancient cup, what stories
Have you to share?
Lemonades, teas, coffees โ€“
How many drank from there?

Archaic plate, what all
Have you observed?
Fish, chicken, salad,
On you being served?

If only you could tell!
Over the many years,
What have you seen? “Wellโ€ฆ
To summarize: laughter and tears,

Contentment and hard times,
Sometimes we were sold,
And gifted, or victims of crime.
There are many things to be told –

But we have passed 100 words.”

The Water’s Edge

It’s week twenty-six of 100 Word Wednesday, and here is the photo and my response. ๐Ÿ™‚ If you’d like to join in, just click the link! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Fun thing about this one – it seems to pick up where week 25 left off! That hasn’t happened before. ๐Ÿ˜„

Bikurgurl 2017

I stroll to the waterโ€™s edge.
I watch the humans walking,
As I peer from behind a hedge.
All are jangling – what they call “talking,”

Going about the daily routines,
As if I were not even here.
I step out where I can be seen.
I recall the armlet โ€“ human, I appear.

It is so interesting above the water;
Hard surface below my feet,
And the sun seems so much hotter.
I wipe sweat from my brow โ€“ Iโ€™m beat!

I return to the pier, release the pin,
The magical bracelet falls free;
My feet are replaced by fin,
As I dive back into the sea!

Spin The World

It’s week 25 of 100 Word Wednesday, and here I am posting at the last minute again! ๐Ÿ˜… If you’d like to join in the fun, just click the link! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Lovely image, BikurGirl! ๐Ÿ˜

I see the boats aplenty
Creating surface tension
On the waterโ€™s shiny top layer
Waiting to be ridden
On the open seas
Freedom!

Look at it how Iโ€™d see
With underwater vision
From my surreptitious lair
Humans are forbidden
From viewing these
Kingdoms!

Turn it upside down,
Yes, spin it around…

Tell me, what do you see?
The sky isnโ€™t the limit,
Itโ€™s the bottom of the sea;
And the air below it!

I put on my special bangle
And one limit fades away;
Spin the world to another angle.
Now I have feet for the day!
