The Dangers of Flirting With Sin

(Part one, the poem, can be found here. This is part two but you don’t have to read part one to understand this one.)

Until last year, I didn’t put too much stock in God still using dreams and visions to reach people. But then… I had a dream myself. I wasn’t sure what to do with this besides heeding the warning it gave.

Fast forward to now.

I had two people reach out to me in which they had a specific dream/vision about me. I don’t want to disclose a lot of details because it’s pretty clear it was directed at me.  However, they were accurate.

What this led to were several things. There are things I’ve been struggling a bit with. As you probably know, I’m more private with things like this, so this is what I do want to share.

Firstly, there was a YouTuber I liked that started making darker videos for some reason. I love autumn but this is the season in which it’s easier for me to struggle. I think he was doing it “all in fun” but I didn’t care to see all the spooky Halloween displays, and then…

Then this person live-streamed a seance.

It became clear – I had to unsubscribe from the channel. It may look harmless, flirting with sin and spooky seances and such but it’s not a joke to mess with the dead.  (Deuteronomy 18:10, Isaiah 8:19) This wasn’t too hard for me. I did it, and it didn’t sting too much. But there was another area I needed to address.

When I posted the Life Updates and Gaming post, I didn’t remove the game app I was addicted to, that had a blatant sin in the plotline. I only off-loaded the app. It gave me a sense of security to still have it so that I could put it back on someday if I wanted to. Why was I finding security in potentially going back to playing this gaming app? I hadn’t even played it since April. I shouldn’t be attached to it. And yet, I never did get rid of it.

I was still clinging to that sin.

Hearing the first dream, I knew there were things I was clinging to. I wasn’t actually doing anything with the game, so I used that as an excuse that it couldn’t be that. But there were other things I was struggling with. Thought it could be something else. With the second vision, the message came in right in the middle listening to this podcast: Stop Playing In The Shadow Of Sin (which I highly recommend by the way). I don’t think it was a coincidence.

I immediately got on my iPod and completely removed the app.

For the other things, there will be a bit of time to work that out – not as easy as removing an app or unsubscribing from a channel. But it’s not worth flirting with sin. Temptation is what got Eve in trouble. Flirting with sin instead of being firm with it resulted in the fall.

It may look safe to only flirt, but desensitizing can happen. Then it’s easy when sin extends its hand to take it and let him lead to full-on sin.

However, we have Jesus’ hand to grab hold of instead!

I’ve had Jackie for a year!

One year ago last Wednesday, this happened:

I can’t believe it’s been a year! My baby has grown up. ❤

She was so little! And for the first six months, I thought she was a boy. Oops.

It has been quite an adventure! 🙂

I took this one this morning! 😀 Though technically her birthday would have been in September, I think this day is worth celebrating too. ❤

For the Peace of Bolivia (a reblog)

Please be praying for Bolivia! ❤

Olivia in Bolivia

Ah, South American politics. I shall say no more. 🙊 What I shall say is that I am safe and my soul is at peace.

For those wondering why I would be saying such a thing, the elections have in fact erupted into protests and violence. Major cities are shutting down and nationwide strikes are being called for. It’s hard to know what’s true and whats not with all the tales floating around. If you follow international coverage of what’s going on in Bolivia right now, remember to be quick to listen, slow to speak, very discerning, and slow to panic when you hear sensational stories about civil war brewing in Bolivia. 😉

Please pray for the peace of Bolivia. But more than that, pray that the glorious Gospel of Christ would flourish and triumph in the midst of this storm.

And here’s a picture of the cows that had…

Flirting With Sin

I flirted with sin,
Even though I was already taken.
I’d made my vows then,
And I planned to keep them.

Sin flirted back, an affair
I didn’t mean to ask for.
Now sin owns me; I can’t bear
to go on anymore!

Oh, my Lord, by Sin I’ve been marred!
I meant forever when I said it,
I didn’t mean for it to go this far!
Now I’m heading for the pit,

Only You can save me,
Only You make me clean!
I fall to my knees
And watch the sin flee!

Your saving power is incredible!
My face is on the floor,
My heart, filled
With Your love once more.

I can’t contain it within me –
Thank You for Your love,
Thank You for Your mercy,
Both from You above!

There will be a part two to this next week, so stay tuned! ❤

An April Day At Mamaw’s

Welcome to part two of April in Photos! 🙂

Mamaw’s daffodils! At least, I think they are. May not be. The blooms on these are so small. She let me dig up some of the bulbs so maybe I’ll have some next year. 🙂

I found some wildflowers along the path while walking to the lake.

I’m not sure what these are, but they are really pretty and have different shades of purples and pinks.

These were everywhere around the lake.

These are SO TINY.

The pink veins in the petals of this one are really neat.

I’ve never seen a flower with oddball petals like this one. Three smalls and a long one. It’s not symmetrical at all.

I heard a plane, so I thought I’d test out my zoom. I didn’t expect it to be this clear!

Apparently, there is a resident beaver living on Mamaw’s lake now.

Last photo of the day. Night was starting to fall, and the colors behind this pine were amazing.  A great way to end this post. 🙂

April 2019 In Photos

Welcome to my April In Photos post! I know, I’m so behind in this series. But I look forward to catching up and sharing with you! Also, look for An April Day At Grandma’s, coming next week. 🙂

I really like these clovers. 🙂 Purple is my favorite color.

The purple on the edges of the leaves is a nice touch! 🙂

Do you see it? No metal detector needed for this find, haha! It wasn’t an old coin, but I was still happy to find it. The rain washed it up.

It left an impression in the dirt. XD

Right after finding the one cent, I spotted this cool looking bug.

The grapes were coming on! I’m not sure what happened, but all the grapes tasted sour and bitter, even when I was sure they should be ripe (they were falling off the vine).

A little friend helped me water my plants. 🙂 The spout of this mop bucket I use to carry water for my plants is all chewed up from when I had dogs. It still works, just looks ugly. I never had the heart to replace it, haha.

I’m curious what kind of butterfly this spiky caterpillar turned into.

Flowers and berries we passed when in town. 😀

Azaleas. These are one of my favorites of my grandma’s bushes. She had several, all different shades of pink. These are such a deep color. If you want to see the other shades, I featured them in these older posts: This one features a more magenta shade and this one features a very light pink shade.

When taking Mamaw (not the same Mamaw as the one who had the azeleas, haha) to town, we drove on this winding road. We had so much rain at the time – the lake was almost touching the pavement!

They say all roads lead to Rome. Apparently, all roads also lead to an exit.  XD

This building had a star on top – and still does. It must not be Christmas decorations. It’s a nice decoration for any time of the year.

I planted potatoes to see if I could get potatoes. it’s been so long, I’ve already harvested them, haha. The biggest I grew was almost as big as my fist. 🙂

And lastly, the April Pink Moon! Which is not actually pink. Haha. They just call the full moon of April a pink moon for some reason. 🙂
