Treasure Tuesday 5/21/2019

Again, this is not recent – this was from the beginning of April. The allergies aren’t as bad and the poison ivy is gone, but it has been raining, so I haven’t been able to do as much metal detecting as I like. But I wanted to share because it wasn’t all tin foil and nails and other random junk! 😀

I didn’t use the metal detector to find this. I didn’t get a before shot because I expected it to be broken since it was mostly buried with the exception of the handle. I went out that day to dig up the trash I saw that was washed up by the rain. (Apparently many years before my parents bought this property, people dumped their garbage in the woods. I remember one year when tilling a new garden spot, we were finding bed springs. That was fun…) However, lo and behold, it wasn’t junk:

It’s complete! Not even a scratch! It says “Corning Ware” on the bottom, along with the fact it was made in the USA. It’s old, but not too old because it also says it is microwave safe and that wasn’t popular until the 1970s. At first, I thought it was one of my mom’s set, but her set looks like this:

So it’s not from her set. We have no idea how it got buried in our backyard, but whatever the case, it’s beautiful and I like it!

And one of the last exciting things I found – a horseshoe! I’m fairly sure it came from a set of playing horseshoes because it has “Champs” stamped on it. And dad said it looked like his old set. XD He also told me I might find the stob out there. If I do, I guess I’ll practice my horseshoe throwing skills!
