Allergy Season Poetry And Flower Photos

April showers
Bring May flowers —
AHHHH — ACHOOOO!
Which apparently I’m allergic to.

April Showers
Bring May Flowers
And allergies which make me cough
And sneeze my head off.

April Showers
Bring May Flowers
And the use of many Kleenexes and Puffs
Because my sinuses can’t handle this pollen stuff.

Welcome April and then welcome May
Welcome the flowers that are here to stay
Long enough to make my head feel like a hot air balloon
And then make me wish they hadn’t come so soon.

The flowers are in full bloom.
My head feels like it might go BOOM.
My eyes turn into a waterfall,
And I wish that it were all —
OVER.

But then I see the petals fair;
Such beauty and color everywhere.
So I suffer the consequences and go
Bravely into the outdoors to take photos.

Allergy season, we have a relationship of love and hate.
And I don’t know, maybe you reciprocate.
I’m not sure if I hate pollen or if pollen hates me more,
But there is one thing that I am sure —

It was worth the pain
To go out and gain
Flower photos such as these
In the midst of the allergies!

**None of these flowers are mine – they belong to a local nursery, except for the last one, which is the honeysuckle growing on my grandma’s fence. 😄

  1. Hey Grace, Namaste 🙂

I was anticipating something special and you’ve surpassed my expectations 🙂 I delight in the title, gaze in wonder at sumptuous colours and vibrant images and chuckle at amusing lines cleverly composed: I do like the use of repetition throughout…it reminded of repeated sneezes 🙂

I have my particular favourite amongst the images…the shade of red in the second photograph is very alluring to the eye – I do love red as a colour – but all are perfect in their own special way. Beautiful. My mother is fond of honeysuckle and as I recall has it growing outside the kitchen window where the wind wafts it’s scent into the house. She adores flowers in much the same way as you do as well.

Your posting is a real treat thank you Grace, which has brightened my evening. You have your eyes closed in the final image: it is the best way to enjoy the perfume of a flower isn’t it? Your hairband is charming: it crowns your obvious contentment and frames your delight perfectly.

So how does your garden grow Grace? 🙂

Thank you for something special. Have a most enjoyable weekend.

Love and be Loved. Namaste 🙂

    • Oh wow, I’m so glad you enjoyed this! 🙂 Aww, haha! That’s great!

It’s so hard for me to pick a favorite flower; I liked the variety! The red ones, if I remember correctly, were labeled “Petunias.” They are gorgeous flowers. 😀

That sounds heavenly! The smell is so sweet. 🙂

I’m glad that this brightened your evening! Thanks for the lovely comment and brightening my day. 😀

It sure is the best way! 🙂

Aww, thank you! 🙂 It’s one of my favorite headbands. 🙂

The garden is growing well! We have tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, cucumbers, and squash. And my lilies have their buds set, and I expect them to open in the first week of June like last year. I can’t wait!

❤ Hope you had a great weekend as well!

      Blessings!

      • I am blinded by all the smiles in your reply 😀 Thank you for every one of them Grace: each is a little ray of sunshine brightening the tail-end of my day.

Your garden sounds like it is a veritable banquet just waiting to flower: a ripe rich hamper full and overflowing with taste and goodness included 🙂

I am not familiar with most plant names – the more common ones excluded – but it doesn’t detract from my enjoyment of them nor my intrigue at finding-out more about them. My grandfather was a keen gardener, a rose specialist in fact, whose blooms were the envy of the neighbourhood: perhaps that is where my interest stems from.

I imagined you might have more than just the one headband: such an accessory suits one who loves the flowers.

My weekend was both fruitful and rewarding thank you 🙂

Enjoy a cosy evening. Sweet dreams for when you get to Zzzzzzz.

        Take care. Namaste 🙂

        • Whoops, I forgot to give you a pair of sunglasses to prevent you from being blinded. 😄 Seriously though, glad that I could brighten your day. 🙂

I sure hope that is the case! I can’t wait to get photos of the flowers and vegetables. 😀

I’m not either; I took photos of the name tags on the flowers. 🙂 How lovely! I can only imagine how amazing his garden must have been.

Hehe, I bought one in every color that they had… 😆 I couldn’t help it. 😊

          Thank you, you as well!

          • Namaste Grace 🙂

I’m wearing sunglasses yet still bright shine,
Of all those smiles is quite sublime:
Inspiring me to pen small rhyme,
Fashion a little lyrical line: to say,
Thank you Grace for comments made,
For advising me to wear dark shades,
            I hope you’ve had a lovely day,
Whether at work or idle play: either way,
If your day was gay full of posies,
Despite sore eyes and runny noses,
I trust you enjoyed redolence of roses,
            Photographing flowers arranged in poses
            Whilst guardian of grannies garden:
Achoo Achoo! Bless me, bless you!
I do beg your pardon! 😀
            ~*~
Take care of one and all. Have a wonderful weekend.

            Namaste 🙂

            • Lovely poem! ❤

              I hope that you
              Had a lovely day too,
              Finding flowers blossoming,
              And summer coming,
              Without too much rain and thundering;
But if storms are in the forecast,
I hope you found a cozy chair and book at last!

I did; I hope that you had a wonderful weekend as well! ❤
