The Light & A Life Update

Have you heard the phrase, “light at the end of the tunnel?” I recently read this one: “Due to extenuating circumstances, the light at the end of the tunnel has been turned off.” At first, I thought that this was clever – and it is – however, I realize with depression, it can certainly feel that way sometimes.

The enemy puts a blindfold on to block the view, and it takes a lot of effort to get it off.

For anxiety sufferers, the tunnel constricts our view of the Light as the airway constricts when a person has an asthma attack. Nothing can get in, and nothing can make us feel more helpless and alone.

But maybe, just maybe, tunnel vision causes this. Thoughts have a way of blocking the Light and making it seem smaller than it is or telling us that the Light at the end of the tunnel is a train that’s going to run us over. It’s sometimes nearly impossible to control them.

It’s all lies. Yes, that is our view of things. But, whatever the case may be, just because I can’t see the Light, doesn’t mean that it isn’t there. For we walk by faith, not by sight (Second Corinthians 5:7).

So even when we feel hopeless in the middle of some tunnel where it’s dark, and where sometimes we’re even afraid of the Light, we know we must keep walking. Even when the tunnel starts to constrict, keep pushing forward. Even when the Light isn’t visible anymore, keep going. And when it looks like the Light might just run us over – keep on. Wield the Armor of the Spirit and order those lies away.

For the Light is waiting to shine on us, and shine through us. Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven” (Matthew 5:14-16).

That’s pretty much where my brain has been today. It has been hard to stay focused on the Light and Who He is. If you read this post from a couple of weeks ago, then you know that life has been hard for me this month.

You may remember this photo from the past. Radar is the one on the left, washing her face. Last night, she became violently ill – and the vet isn’t open that late, so I had to wait until morning. I kept checking on her most of the night. When I checked on her around 1AM, she was already gone. I had no chance to even try to help her, it happened so fast. Here is another photo; she is on the left (and Sketcher is on the right):

Her eyes weren’t always different like that. When she was a kitten, another cat scratched her eye, and she became blind in that eye. She adapted so well, but I always had to keep that in mind because if I approached her on her blind side and then reached to pet her, she would lose her mind because she didn’t see it coming. 😅 I have many fond memories of her losing her mind. Most of the time it happened because I mistook her for Rabbit (Radar’s mother). Without seeing the face, they looked almost identical.

Now they are both gone, within a couple of weeks of each other.

Radar would have been eight this spring.

I may not be as active online the next few days while I try to put my heart back together. Love you guys! ❤

Well said and insightful Grace. This is the continual battle of believing what we see with our flesh or believing what invisible eternal things that God And our Spirit sees and God has for us. Every thing I can see on this world is temporary. The more intangible things in this life, love, touching the life of someone, helping a person in trouble, the motivation for these issues in life are not tangible. I have never gone over my neighbors house asking for one cup of love or help bread or trouble solvent! We do get to see what happens when these things are added to life, what a blessing.

As weak as faith/hope might be, Faith is always built Stronger in the most turbulent storms by a deeply internal part of us. In the heat of the battle if I choose to believe what God says over what I see faith grows exponentially. If I choose to escape because of what I see, faith is dampened. Our viewpoint is what makes the decision. Yes you got me going again Grace sorry I was so long in this comment.

Glad your dad is doing better Grace. I will continue to pray for him and your family. Losing a pet is a tough thing to go through Grace. I will be lifting you up as you struggle through this, navigate well my friend through this unpleasant time. The hope that is in you will sustain you and keep you and never forsake you. This truth is more sure than taxes and death!

Blessings to you friend. Thank you for your hard work on your blog it is a blessing to know you through it.
    Blessings and care to you,

    Denny

    • Thank you! ❤

Yes, and it is quite a battle – but we know Who wins the war. 🙂

“As weak as faith/hope might be, Faith is always built Stronger in the most turbulent storms by a deeply internal part of us.” Well said! 🙂 We shouldn't run from the battle, but while wearing His armor, go into battle. 😀 Aww, haha, no apologies needed! You are inspiring me to write a post again though… 🙂

Thank you for the prayers! 🙂

      Amen!!

Aww, thank you, Denny. I'm glad to know you through your blog and comments too. 🙂

Thank you, and blessings to you too!

  3. That’s the trick of the old evil one, the tunnel is closing, just give up, that’s what he wants but you are God’s beloved, and He is always with you, through it all. Lord, we ask you today to help Your beloved child. She is being hit from all sides with illness, and loss. Help her through this time of trials, knowing that You are with her, protecting her, and loving her, and that You are strongest in her times of weakness. Lord, show her that Light at the end of this tunnel, so brightly that it can’t be denied. God, I ask you bring her the peace, and comfort as only you can. Fill her with your strength and love, so overflowing, that it overwhelms her. In Jesus name, I thank you for hearing, and answering my prayer. Lord, I love you, Amen.

  4. Hello. I pray that you never lose faith. It isn’t unusual to become attached to a pet. When they’re gone it can be just as sad as if a human friend had passed. Take care now.

  5. My heart goes out to you ❤ I will miss you while you take the time to mourn but know that my prayers are with you. You have much love and support here ❤ When you talked about the light at the end of the tunnel and not being able to see it…I can very much relate to that. Depression can have a really tight grip sometimes but Amen we walk by faith not by sight. I have complete faith that God will see you through this difficult time and he will comfort you because you are his child. 🙂

    Matthew 5:4
“Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted

Much love and God Bless ❤

    • Thanks for those words – I needed to hear that right now. It's reassuring to know that I'm not alone, but at the same time, I'm sorry that you know what that's like. Its grip can be intense sometimes. I will keep following Him and He will lead me though. ❤

Thank you for that verse – that is such a comforting one. 🙂

Much love and God bless you too! ❤

  6. Reblogged this on A Christian In Bloom and commented:
Prayers are needed for my friend Grace. She is in mourning, has battled illness and understandably, is having a difficult time seeing the light at the end of the tunnel as she talks about in her post. It is my hope that by sharing her story here, you will visit her and offer her love and support ❤

  7. I can relate to you so much and felt every bit of your pain and heartbreak reading this. There really are no words to say except for that I’m lifting you up in prayer and asking that God wraps His loving arms around you and fills you to overflowing with His perfect peace.
I pray that God will wipe every tear from your eye.
    Much love,
    Hayley ❤️

  10. I’ve been in the abyss of sorrow, where words meant to comfort, though appreciated, are as effectve as hallow noises. However, if it is any worth, I hope for you a speedy peace or numbness, which ever nulls the pain. To wherever Radar’s soul resides, I hope it is experiencing love and is at peace.
