Out Of The Blue

Before we get to the photos… you may have noticed the lack of posts this week. My uncle is staying with us. He left the Texas coast right before Harvey arrived, and it’s a good thing he did; that part of Texas was hit hard. Please pray for Houston and the surrounding areas. ❤

Dragonfly, with the blue sky filtering through the wings and the trees in the background – I love pattern in the wings 💙

Love the color theme for this weeks’ photography challenge from Dutch Goes the Photo! – blue! Turns out, Cee’s Fun Photo Challenge‘s theme this week is “a color that starts with B,” which is quite fortunate. And the Daily Post’s prompt is “Structure,” which I showcased above with the structure in the dragonflies wings, so I’m killing three birds with one stone instead of two here. (Poor birds…! 😜)

Flying vulture silhouetted against the blue sky

I’m enamored by blue, especially in the sky and reflections of the sky on my grandma’s lake. (Click if you want to see more photos of the lake.)

And then… I remembered some hyacinths I bought before Easter of last year. (If you’d like to see more of these flowers, click here.)

And lastly: a mushroom! 🙂 (If you want to see more of this mushroom, click here.)

  1. I am glad your Uncle is safe. I sure wish everyone had transportation and a place to stay to get away from the storm.
As always you do have an eye for a wonderful shot of God’s creation.

  2. Beautiful pictures of all things Blue — we are praying for Houston and Texas as a whole. One of our daughters is in San Antonio and we have several friends who live in Houston. God’s power is awesome and we forget that we are simply no match for it. Blessings to you.

  3. Hey Follow Him,

I couldn’t let these delightful photographs pass me by without leaving a thank you. The lake is enchanting, the Hyacinths captivating in their colour, and the Dragon-Fly quite beautiful…its almost as though he’s waiting and watching from the shadowed light of a liminal space. the detailing on the wings is superb. Thank you.

I must add, the mushroom image threw me completely when I first took a quick glance. I thought it was an aerial photograph of a very large open cast mine. Initially I couldn’t figure out why you’d included it lol 🙂 And then all became clear! It’s not the first time my mind has interpreted freely and reached for a viable possibility when it was confused. I had the same trouble the other day when looking at a Peony and thinking it were a rose.

I too am pleased your Uncle made a safe exit before the rain fell. We are vulnerable to Nature’s might, and she IS mighty. All those affected are in our prayers. I trust your uncle will enjoy his stay with y’all 🙂

Thank you again for the photographs! take care of one and all at lakeside 🙂

    Namaste 🙂

    • Aww, I’m so glad you enjoyed these. 🙂

Oh wow! I love your imagination. 🙂 It would have confused me too; this is such a strange color for a mushroom! (Also, I will have to Google a Peony now.)

He actually went through part of the rain; he said no one was on the road, and I can imagine why… I’m so glad he is safe too.

Yes, Mother Nature is quite mighty!

      🙂 ♥

Oh yes! And we are enjoying his company too.

      Thanks for the comment! 😊

I must need new eyes: the ones I have are wearing out 🙂

Sweet Peony is a fragile flower,
Her petals near soft as Grace.
Of a morning dressed in dewy lace.
Pearls strung across her pretty face
Race slip slide else drip ad fall,
Rippling the surface of a droplet pool.
        ~
She is a lover impassioned by colour,
She will dress to flatter your room.
She is more vibrant than a rainbow,
As enchanting as a mushroom 🙂

WOW. Lovely poem! 😍 (Even has my name in it; I don’t know if you intended that or not, haha.)

Thank you – I hope you had a great weekend as well! (I’m days behind in responding to comments as you can see, haha.)

          • 🙂 Glad you enjoyed the poem. And your name, Grace? It is a beautiful name chosen just for you 🙂

Never worry about replying to my scribbles, you have more important priorities like the Lake, the Woods, the Elves!! Talking of which, I trust all is well in the Fairy Realm 🙂

            Take care. God Bless.

                  • Hey Grace,

I’m very pleased to hear of slow going progress…it doesn’t matter how slow, as long as there is progress: even a full stop added to a draft can keep the process moving forwards. Small steps taken with mindfulness will still complete the same journey. Good luck! 🙂

I love the quote! your close your comment with. It allows me to enjoy lots and lots of sleep without feeling guilt lol 🙂

                    • 😀 That is so true! “Slow and steady wins the race.” 🙂 The planning stages has been so fun; I can’t wait to start the actual writing process, but I don’t want to as they say, “put the cart before the horse.” I still have novel attempts that I didn’t plan very well for and because of that, turns into a disaster. I don’t want that to happen this time!

Haha, me too! Well, maybe just a little guilty. 😅

                    • Well all I can say Grace is how impressed I am at your sense of self-organisation! and self-discipline. You sound as if you are a planner who strays sometimes lol 🙂 Aren’t we all…I am totally guilty of writing off the cuff and planning nothing! I should take a leaf from your book Grace 🙂

I have everything crossed your novel reaches its natural conclusion without disorder and disaster. I have every confidence this novel novel with be a novel gem 🙂

Best wishes, brightest blessings! Take care of y’all!

                    • Aww, thank you! 🙂 Now if only my room could be that organized… 😅

Oh yes, I actually attempted this novel about 10 years ago, but I didn’t do any world-building or really much planning; I just wrote as I thought of it, so a lot of things didn’t make sense or were impossible because the rules of magic should stay consistent. Also, I had so many characters that even I couldn’t keep up with them all!

Thank you! 🙂 I hope it does too.

Best wishes and brightest blessings to you as well! ♥

Take care Grace, keep a beaming smile upon your happy face! 😀 Say ‘hey’ to the Elves from Dewin lol 🙂

                      Namaste 🙂

                    • lol 🙂 Just as long as you are sure that what they said was Elven for ‘Hey?’ and not some mischievous sense of troublemaking like they are famed for 🙂 Got to watch the faery-folk you know Grace. else they get up to all sorts of rapscallion behaviour.

Take care of one and all.

                      Namaste 🙂
