Thanks to Angela for having a discussion with me about tea – I couldn’t stop thinking about tea after that, and then I remembered a quote I’d read once by Eleanor Roosevelt: “A woman is like a tea bag; you never know how strong it is until it’s in hot water.” I propose that faith is like that as well… you never know how strong it is until you end up in hot water.
And I’d love to take this analogy a bit further. If faith is like a tea bag, then what does the water represent? Trials and hardships, perhaps?
If this is so, then here there is only one thing left to ask: When placed in hot water, does your faith make tea, or do you turn the water lukewarm with an icy heart?
“I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.” (Revelation 3:15 & 16)
My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing. (James 1:2-4)
Interesting writing with some great questions! Thank you for sharing your walk of faith!

I don’t like lukewarm of anything. I like hot tea, hot soup. hot food. Yes, heat brings out the best of us and everything! Nice post.

This is the core of “Count it all joy when you fall into diverse temptation….” It builds faith from the inside out. You did it again Grace! Keep up the building up of the Saints by sharing on your Blog

I think I’m seeping more faith than I have in the past. That’s a start, but I aim to continue to grow a “hotter” faith, if you will. π

Faith in our creator is the true destination of every mortal believer until we are like our Creator intended again. Do not forget ebb and flow in the journey of faith,Our foe knows our weakness all to well. Do not be discouraged as setbacks happen.
When setbacks/sin, doubt in God happen,,, I think they do and will,,, this is the most important time to baptize yourself in to our Heavenly Dadβs love and grace He sends us in our fiery trial, especially if you think you do not deserve it. The pilgrimage to Redemption, perfection. and reunification with our Creator is a risk in love and a beginning of the adventure to the abundant life.,
No adventure is complete without trouble, sidetracks, reversals, a few victories, and learning humility in it all. Celebrate your hotter faith now and bask in itβs warmth. But, even when you fail Our Dad in Heaven is still delighted you are His child, His love for you never changes,, rest in this truth. His child and forever I amβ¦. Look deeply into His love for you, it will help you to overcome addition to sin, At least it has for me who is far from perfection but finding a faithful lover of my soul is helping to fill me with love so there is less room for sin.
At least that is how I am seeing my walk with God now. What do you think? Even in this, I am encouraged with your admission of a God given time of hot faith, It will help fortify your Spirit for the next trial. Keep your walk going with each step you will know how much God loves you. As you overcome the evil one, God will manifest Himself you you in new ways. You are on the adventure that never ends with one who can never leave of forsake you. Praise our creator God.
In Christ,
Denny

The only way I believe we grow in faith is through perseverance. As scriptures say it is only through trials we learn perseverance. God has all we need, and when we seek Him He will guide us, definitely. π

“Do not forget ebb and flow in the journey of faith…” That reminds me of “But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.” (James 1:6) π I’ll certainly try not to be discouraged; thanks for the encouragement! π
“…especially if you think you do not deserve it.” That is something I’ve really had to wrestle with.
I’ll certainly try to bask in the warmth! π
This was very encouraging; thanks for the comment and sharing your walk of faith! β€ Yes, He loves us and is with us through the trials!
