Flying Above The Turtle’s Shell

This is week twenty-four of 100 Word Wednesday, and here is the photo and my response. 🙂 If you’d like to join in the fun, just click the link! 😉

100 words exactly this week! 🎊

I look beneath me to see
An island on a turtle’s shell
Floating haphazardly
Along the ocean’s swells.

What an adventure! But I’d rather fly
Up here in the salty air
Than have my fate decided by
That turtle down there.

For when it finally goes under,
I’d hope that the one who in there dwells
Attached the house firmly, or it will asunder
And the pieces will become driftwood on the swells!

I catch the early morning breeze
And leisurely, on the air currents I drift away;
Flapping feathered wings with ease,
Hoping to see the turtle again someday!
