“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. Matthew 5:8

Are you pure in heart? Many people are religious but that doesn’t mean they will ever see God. We must remember that God reads the hearts and minds of us all (Jeremiah 17:10) Just because you’re putting on a good show for everyone, you’re not fooling God. If your heart is corrupted with evil , you have not truly been transformed. You can’t walk with God and hold hands with Satan.

Even Christians, Jesus taught us that many would profess his name, but he will say depart from me you evil doers, I never knew you! (Matthew 7:23) What is going on here? The problem is just because you call yourself a “Christian” and use the name of Jesus, if your heart is still corrupted, your works are still evil. We see this a lot in today’s…

  1. This is one of those subjects that people can stumble on isn’t it?
    Ya know something. I agree with the truth that a person’s heart reveals their spiritual state…saved or lost. It’s not what goes into a person that defiles him but what comes out.

    But I’ve found, (and this is just my perspective), that one can’t necessarily evaluate a person’s salvation status based on their sins they’re involved in.
    A real religious person can be very moral, and proud. And not truly be believing on Christ alone, and be very lost.
    While a saved person can have lingering, ongoing sins of the flesh, and be saved because his hope is on Jesus plus none of himself.

    So I believe that a person’s heart reveals a lot.
    A lost person can reveal not only evil spewing out of their heart, but also behavioral religious pride.

    Is a person really reflecting God’s love, are they trusting only in the death, burial, and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ as the totality of their salvation?
    Or, are they trusting in that plus their repentance of sins?

    That’s my two cents.

      “It’s not what goes into a person that defiles him but what comes out.” I agree with this. However, I also think that what you allow in can affect what comes out.

      Those are very good points. Reminds me a lot of the Pharisees. They thought that they were so moral, and yet Jesus told them… “Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess.” (Matthew 23:25)
      And on the flip side, you have the woman Jesus met at the well, who had some sin problems, but she believed and He forgave her sins, and He told her to go and sin no more.

      Indeed, a person’s heart reveals a lot, and He knows hearts! First Samuel 16:7: “But the LORD said unto Samuel, ‘Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.’ ” Can’t hide a heart from God! 🙂
