A Day At Grandma’s

In response to Dutch Goes The Photo’s Photo Challenge – this is a collection of photos I took last Tuesday at my grandma’s.

You know I had to get more shots of the dead tree and the live tree next to it. XD For some reason, they fascinate me.

And I found some dandelion seed pods and some clover.

At this point, my mom hit a limb with the riding lawn mower, which knocked the belt off. She asked me to see if I could get it back on, and I did – eventually. Of course, I took the camera off my neck for that, and she got this photo. Thanks, mom! 😂

And then I found some flowers! I really like the purple one with the seed pods around it. (I admit it – I staged that one. XD The pods weren’t originally that close but I pulled them over into the shot.)  And those yellow ones were everywhere! It was such a beautiful day. 🙂

        • Aww, haha, thanks. 😊 I don’t know a lot about things like that, but I eventually figured out how to put it back on the pulleys to make it work again. 🙂

          No, not yet. 🙂 First, it might help if I could learn how to drive a car… XD

          • Well, I am impressed you could figure out the power mower! And you don’t have anyone to teach you how to drive? You certainly have enough rural area that you won’t run into much of anything, I would say. And maybe your mom or dad could find some time to help you learn to drive. It really is the start of some independence for yourself. You could then start looking for a job of interest.

            Listen to me, trying to run your life! Sorry about that. But these things do build self confidence, Grace, and help pull you out of your shyness…

              I have my mom; the last lesson didn’t exactly… go well. Let’s just say that I can’t judge the distance between the passenger side tire and the ditch… 😂 “STOP!” my mom screamed. So I slammed the brake down – and almost sent her through the windshield. Oops. Turns out those brakes are quite touchy! XD I’m eager to learn, but it will take some getting used to! It’s certainly not as easy as riding a bike… 😂

              LOL! I didn’t take it that way at all. You’re right, it would build confidence! 🙂

              • Well, hey, you got out there and gave it a try. So you had a bit of an “Oops…” no big deal. Everybody learns differently and in their own way. Just make sure you get back out there and keep trying! Maybe a parking lot of some sort to start with. Get the feel of the car and then judging that passenger wheel may not be as hard to learn. Just a thought…

                  • Try it in a parking lot for about 30-45 minutes. Turn the car in circles and make lots of left and right turns. Practice starting and stopping so you get smooth at it. It’s a great feeling once you take a pass a driver’s test and get a license!

                    • When I was about 17, my dad bought me a car…it was a stick-shift and I had to learn how to drive it. He took me to the church parking lot…(empty) and I began to learn. I messed up several times…Lol! But I wound up driving us home. My dad had nerves of steel!

                    • Well as I said in another comment you will read, I learned to drive in a free high school class which lasted for five afternoons after last period. I drove both an automatic and a stick…I was horrible with the clutch! I took the class with two young ladies and they both did better than I did with the stick-shift!

                    • That’s neat that they offered that free class! Haha, I think I would be too. It’s hard enough keeping up with the other petals, much less having a third to think about!

                      I tried starting my mom’s car today (we’re doing some car repairs on it) and that was hard enough. XD “Give it gas, but not too much.” **VROOOOOOOOOOOOOOM** “GRACE!” XD I barely touched the gas petal, and wow, it doesn’t take much. 😂

                    • I still say you would do well in an empty parking lot. I’m not trying to tell you what to do or how to live, but maybe you could set that as a goal for yourself. ‘I will learn to drive over this summer…’ 🙂

                    • I do too! 🙂 At the moment, one of the things keeping me busy is helping my dad fix my mom’s car. I can’t practice unless I have a car to practice with!

                    • So you are kind of “mechanically inclined,” putting belts on lawnmowers and helping to fix your mom’s car! Good for you…Lots of guys like a girl who can “turn a wrench!” 🙂

                    • Following instructions is just as important as fixing the broken parts! And I’m not sure that even all the mechanics out there know what part they are taking off with their wrenches… :0
