Distant Coasts

This is week sixteen of 100 Word Wednesday, and here is the photo and my response. 🙂 If you’d like to join in, just click the link! 😉

Just made it before the deadline this week. **whew** XD

I am on a boat, floating in the bay,
I look asunder to see a well-known quay,
“Welcome Home!” but I’m not here to stay.
This is not my home anymore.

Home is that place when you depart,
You miss and wish with all the heart,
To return; but I am bitter and tart.
I push away from the familiar shore.

Some call this home and that is fine,
It is just not for me, it is not mine,
For distant coasts and adventures, I pine.
I stretch the sails and on the oceans, I soar!

  2. You are quite a poet, Grace! I felt the words take hold of me…and your desire to break free of the familiar to see new things. A very good post!
