Distant Coasts

This is week sixteen of 100 Word Wednesday, and here is the photo and my response. ๐Ÿ™‚ If you’d like to join in, just click the link! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Just made it before the deadline this week. **whew** XD

I am on a boat, floating in the bay,
I look asunder to see a well-known quay,
โ€œWelcome Home!โ€ but Iโ€™m not here to stay.
This is not my home anymore.

Home is that place when you depart,
You miss and wish with all the heart,
To return; but I am bitter and tart.
I push away from the familiar shore.

Some call this home and that is fine,
It is just not for me, it is not mine,
For distant coasts and adventures, I pine.
I stretch the sails and on the oceans, I soar!

  2. You are quite a poet, Grace! I felt the words take hold of me…and your desire to break free of the familiar to see new things. A very good post!
