In response to Cee’s Fun Photo Challenge: Autumn – Metal. You may remember the fall photos I shared last February of my grandma’s lake – but that same day, I took a bunch of close-ups of leaves as well that I haven’t shared before.
This one is probably my favorite of these. I like how the fall colors pop against the reflection of the sky on the lake:
These scarlet leaves were so glossy that glare ruined many of my shots, but this one turned out:
I believe these are oak leaves:
And I think these are maple. I like how half is changing and the other half is green, like it couldn’t decide if it was ready to embrace autumn:
If you want to see more fall photos (and a poem), I posted this last November: Fall Magic
Beautiful photos! 🙂

Beautiful photos. Scared me there – I thought I had missed Spring and Summer. Lol

LOL! XD So glad we didn’t – otherwise, it would already be time to harvest and I haven’t finished planting my garden yet. 😂

Wow, Grace…what beautiful pictures! Fall is my favorite time of year…maybe it has something to do with the holidays coming, but I just think it that weather. And of course, leaves turning color like these. Beautiful post!!!!!!!!!

I love that about fall too! It may be my favorite season as well. (And also the fact that my birthday is in October. I’m not biased at all, noooo. 😂) But seriously, harvesting veggies, hot chocolate, and like you said, the holidays approaching, weather getting cooler (which means hot chocolate!), leaves changing… it is nice. 🙂

I know exactly what you mean…these are some of my favorites too, including the hot chocolate! Hey, my birthday is on Halloween…(Oct. 31). I also love football… 🙂

Wow! So close! 🙂
Haha, I’m not a huge fan of sports, but that’s cool that you like it. 🙂 The main thing I knew was when we went to my grandma’s house, always root for the Dallas Cowboys or get yelled at. 😂

Hahaha…I love your grandma! One can do a lot worse than the Cowboys.

LOL! XD If I remember correctly, she really loved Tony Romo because he always prayed before the game. 🙂

As much as he got chased around on the field, I think I’d pray before every game too…hehe!

Poor Tony. He’s had a number of pretty good seasons, but never too much success in the play-offs. Their new QB Dak Prescott looks like the true future of the team. I hope he helps bring Dallas along to a much needed Super Bowl win…

Aww, poor guy! Haha, the way my grandma talked, he was the best ever. XD Oh, that’s good; it would be great if they won the Superbowl! It’s too bad she isn’t here to see it happen if they win.
Does that mean that Tony retired?

Oh, sorry to hear about your grandma, Grace. Hopefully she is up there in “Cowboy’s heaven” with season tickets! Yep, I think Tony is retired now. He was ready to retire, he didn’t want to be a back-up quarterback on some team somewhere. Oh well, he’ll probably make very good money broadcasting games and he won’t get hurt anymore!

Thanks, Steve. 🙂 She’s been gone since April of last year.
Ah, okay. Yeah, that’s a plus, broadcasting games and not getting hurt! 🙂

Lovely pictures! I especially love the last one, with all the different colours – it looks like rainbow, or maybe one of those cool multi-coloured ice pops shaped like rockets ❤

No problem! Me too 😉 Haha, yeah, I used to love them. Now I much prefer a bag of pretzels!

Mmm, pretzels are really good too. I bought some a while back that were dark-chocolate covered. They were amazing. 😍

Cool shots! Yep, I would definitely say those are oak leaves (look like white oak specifically), and the others look like maple (I have no idea which type 😁) I love those glossy red ones, whatever they are!

Oh cool – white oak! That’s so neat that you can tell by the leaves. 😀
LOL, my first thought was, “I wonder if it’s the kind of maple you get maple syrup out of?” 😂)
Me too! Those have me baffled!

My dad taught me a trick to tell the difference between red and white oak. White oak has the rounded tips and red oak has the pointy tips. He told an easy way to remember the difference is like this: “The ‘white’ men used round bullets, and the ‘red’ Indians use pointy arrows.”

Oh, that is so cool! 😀 I’ll definitely remember that. 😊

Yeah, it’s a nice way to remember. They’re now one of few leaves I can actually identify! 😀
