You were tortured but You did not break
Struck repeatedly, feeling pain – done for my sake
They took a spear and punctured Your side
To make sure that You were dead inside
Entombed for three days and then risen
So that this sinful being may be forgiven
You gave Your life, it was not taken
You did this so I would not be forsaken
Sin and death cannot rule me anymore!
Oh, my Savior, it’s because I’m Yours!
It is not me who should glory
But Thee! For I am not worthy
You bought me with a hefty price
Your blood – Your loving Sacrifice
You bought me from certain carnality
Now I am Your servant for eternity
I am no longer mine
Lord Jesus, I am Thine
Have a great Resurrection Day, everyone. 🙂
P.S.: You may have noticed that I used “Resurrection Day” instead of “Easter” – to me, when I think of “Easter” I think of eggs, bunnies and candy, but that isn’t what the holiday should represent. So I use “Resurrection Day” because it gives Jesus glory for His resurrection and ascension, and what He accomplished. And if you are curious about how the name “Easter” came about (like I was – curiosity kills the cat lady 😂), here is a fascinating article: Is The Name Easter Of Pagan Origin?
** Image source. There are a lot of links on that page to different wallpapers, so here is the link to this one. I’m using this for my desktop image this weekend. Images like this one breaks my heart – they show just how much pain and torture He took on for my sake, and that makes me love Him that much more. ♥
Amazing piece!

I love both the poem and the remark about “Resurrection Day” at the end of it. You are so right, people of the world use the term “Easter” to mean eggs and candy and a holiday. As well represented as Christianity is in the world, and others don’t even mention the connection between Easter Sunday and Christ risen. Yet they mention the significance of other “religious holidays” in other “faiths!” This is truly sad…

Yes, indeed! And I feel like Christmas is heading in the same direction – I wonder how many think of Santa Claus and presents instead of Christ’s birth?

Many think of Santa Claus as a “god.” He is presented as a good man, knowing if we are “naughty or nice,” and brings presents to all people no matter what. No how messed up is that?!

That’s the way the world will think sometimes, Grace. Sad but true…
