Peaceful Place

It’s week thirteen of 100 Word Wednesday, and here is the photo and my response. If you’d like to participate, just click the link! 😉

Beautiful photo, BikurGirl! 🙂 I really like those puffy clouds in the background – it makes an already great photo even better. ♥

Ah, a peaceful place to unwind.
I grab a piece of bread to feed the birds.
A voice stops me; I look up to find
The park ranger pointing to printed words.

“See, read that sign over there,
Feeding the birds is prohibited.
God feeds the fowls of the air;
Keep the pity inhibited.”

“Can I at least feed the fish?
Don’t take all the fun outta this trip.
May I at least have that wish?”
“Fine,” he says, “But don’t gimme lip.”

We talk about this and that,
And soon he asks for a date!
Before I leave this chitchat,
I declare that it must be fate!

** The line about God feeding the birds was inspired by Matthew 6:26: “Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?” One of my favorite verses. ♥
