Side View of a Massive Spider

I apologize in advance to any arachnophobics who stumble upon this post, because I realize how horror-movie these images are – especially the side view. This is in response to Cee’s Fun Photo Challenge: View From The Side, and the Daily Post’s prompt: Massive. (Which was perfectly timed, I wrote this post yesterday before the Daily Post posted today’s prompt. 😂) Yup. I got close enough to get a side-view of a spider with a 3X zoom, and this thing was huge. I like spiders as long as they aren’t on me, so I went for it and prayed that it wasn’t a poisonous one.

And in case you are curious, here is a top view (I know I’m really stretching it with that prompt 😂):

      • Have to use a sattelite out here in the country for internet. Get 10 GB for $61 a month. I get my next bill on Monday. If I use my GB allowance up I get charged more. I ran out of GB for this month. Can get on the internet at no charge from Midnight to 5:00 a,m, So here I am. Am an early riser, but not this early. Ha

      • There are two things I couldn’t live with. A lot of snow and ice on the ground and things like snakes and spiders in my driveway and yard! Guess I’m a California city boy!!

        • Haha! 🙂 I guess I’m used to looking for the critters at this point. I remember years ago when I went outside to feed my dogs and I failed to see a copperhead snake coiled up behind my dog’s water dish. I walked by and it tried to strike me. Macy (a dog I had then) got there so fast and she grabbed it behind the head, so it couldn’t bite me. She saved me that day. I’m always careful now!

          Haha, I understand that! It must be nice to not worry about snakes and spiders though! 🙂 Especially the snake part… XD

          • Yes it is. Although I live in a very arid part of SoCal, near the desert. We have a lake nearby which I went to visit one day. I noticed a sign which said “BEWARE OF RATTLESNAKES! Don’t walk among the rocks” I was out of there in 5 minutes! Glad Macy was around for you that day. You must live a bit rural there in Arkansas…

            • Rattlesnakes?! 😱 Haha, I saw some in a nature center and I was so glad we met with glass between us. XD

              Me too. 🙂 Though she got bit instead. I was terrified for her, and it was too late by the time I called the vet for me to bring her in for the antivenom. But the vet told me to give her Benadryl and antibiotics and she’d be fine. And she was. 🙂

              Yes, it is very rural. 🙂 I love the wildlife – except for the poisonous snakes. And I could do without the coyotes. 😂

              • Wow, Grace. A close call with Macy, glad she came through it all okay. I’m not sure I could live with the spiders and snakes. I’d have to live in the city and drive to the points of interest in nature. But I do love nature as I know it from California standards…

                  I think I may be the opposite – I’m not sure if I could live in the city. Cars constantly driving by, tall buildings, lots of people… XD

                  🙂 Does California nature include the beach? The ocean is one thing that California has that Arkansas doesn’t, haha. 😂

      LOL, I get that! XD I’d say bigger than a half-dollar if we are measuring from the tip of the legs. Maybe a bit bigger than a silver dollar? I wish I had thought to put something into the photo for scale. I did do that in another photo with a spider last year, and it made me nervous to get my hand that close to it. 😅
