/ Following Him

This is week one of the 100 Word Wednesday Challenge, and here is the photo and my response. 🙂 If you’d like to participate, click here to read BikurGurl’s guidelines. 😉 According to Microsoft Word, this is 106 words. (It was originally 120 but I managed to trim it back a bit. 😊)

In the wood, murmurs abound
We hear the insistent whisper
For us to come draw near
To hurry and follow the sound

Trees tower into the cerulean sky
The wind rustles leaves below us
That winter striped from the deciduous
Leaving empty branches reaching high

Mother Nature’s blanket cracks
Beneath Fivefinger shoes
I’m amazed by the hues
His creation takes me aback

This is where I prefer
To connect with the One
And His only begotten Son
Who created this grandeur

In nature, it’s easier to be still
And know that He is God
I realize it may seem odd
That here, He voices His will

      • I like to think of God and pray in the still of the very early morning. Of course this isn’t always possible, but if I wake up in the night, most of the time I’ll think of a song or a prayer…

        • I do too, but usually, I do in the stillness of the night. I’ve fallen back asleep some mornings because its too peaceful… XD
          Yes, me too! I love thinking of songs and praying then. Sometimes I like to write it down. I have my notepad next to my bed for that reason as well.

          • I’ve trusted myself to remember a song for the next morning’s post, but that has failed me too often! It would do me good to write down songs and themes for posts as well…

            • I know what you mean. 🙂 I’d encourage you to keep a notepad nearby – or at least some sticky notes or something. 😊 Though it doesn’t always help. I had a dream the other night in which I wrote a praise poem, but by the time I grabbed the notebook, the poem was lost. 😜 I’ve been trying to remember bits and pieces ever since. XD

              • That’s very interesting. I don’t have dreams like that. It must be somewhat exciting to dream about what you may be writing on the next day. Sorry that you lost it when you woke up. Maybe some of it will come back to you.

                • Aww. 🙂 I remember a lot of my dreams for some reason. It is! 😊 The majority of books I’ve written or started writing is because of dreams. Thanks; some of it has, actually. 🙂 I have two lines that may be similar to how it was in the dream, but there are about three or four stanzas missing… XD

                  • I have dreams I remember too but they usually have to do with working on a job. I was forced into retirement (disability) much too early for my liking due to nerve damage in my legs. Funny, I never thought I’d retire at all! You just never know about some things in life!

                    • Oohh. Mine are usually oddball, but every once in a while I get one that really inspired me to write. 🙂
                      Aww, I’m sorry. It looks like in your retirement you are concentrating on spreading the Good News, and that is considered good work, right? 😊

                    • Well, that’s the way I look at it. I was so eager to write about God’s word when I first retired, and I’ve been writing about it ever since then…for the most part. It is my work unto the Lord, but I may move on now after a few years of this to something else. But I may not either…just don’t know yet. How are you doing today, Grace?

                    • I’m doing well enough I guess. You sound busy today. Usually we wait until the spring for decluttering , don’t we? Oh what a job we had the year before last! It’s amazing how much “stuff” we can build up around ourselves…

                      So you’re working on a poem are you. I bet you will turn it into another “masterpiece!” And you can use it as a post for the day too. But you get to decide that…

                      I’m think of what I’ll work on today. I’m finally all caught up on my blog comments, but seem to have run out of readers! Many blogs have these “ups and downs”…

                      Well, I’m almost certain we’ll be talking some more today so I’ll TTYL…(talk to you later)…

                      LOL, I know; I didn’t want to wait until spring. It was already too cluttered for my liking. After my efforts yesterday, my reaction was, “Aha! There is indeed a computer desk under here!”😂
                      Oh yes, definitely. It seems as if many times I keep something because I may want it or need it later, however, it just… sticks around. X)
                      Yes! It was inspired by Psalm 88. 🙂 I had this idea that if the Psalms were intended to be sung, then shouldn’t they rhyme? (Perhaps they did in the original Hebrew?) Therefore, I decided to try to take the general idea of the Psalm and make it rhyme. (If you read the Psalm it’s based on, you’ll see that some of the wording is similar. 😊)
                      Oh no! :O Well, maybe your other readers are currently catching up on blog comments too. XD

                    • Oh Grace…you are wonderful! I’m sure that the Psalms were translated as first written. Maybe they didn’t rhyme songs in the day. Oh well, if you try to use the Psalm in context and rhyme the words, good luck with that.

                      It’s okay about readers. They do vary up and down over time with most blogs. They do what I do, I believe. They read those who read them. Sometimes I’ll remember a few blogs I haven’t heard from in a while and go looking for them, but that’s only once in a while. Maybe the readers are catching up on comments, etc.
                      as you said.

                      Yep, we’ll talk a bit later on I’m sure of that. I enjoy your comments!

                      You’re probably right. 🙂 If they were sung, I wish the music had been preserved. Wouldn’t you love to hear it as the Israelites heard it?! 😍

                      I tried, but I think it ended up being more “inspired by” than “based on” because I rearranged some of it and added to it. (I plan to post it after I catch up on comments today! 😊)

                      Yeah. 🙂 Haha, that’s what I do too, usually. I haven’t mastered WordPress yet and I haven’t really figured out how to best find new blogs. I really like the “blogs I’m following” and “my community” sidebar widget things.

                      I’ve done that too. And sometimes I worry a bit when someone randomly stops posting…

                    • Grace…do you know how to search on the “Reader?” If not, go to it and put something like “God” or “Christian” in the search box. New blogs of those types will come up and you can read about them and see if you like them. If you think you like one, visit the site and read a posting to see what you think. BE CAREFUL, however…

                      Some of these folks think they are “prophets” or “apostles” and some think they can talk directly to God and then share His will with us. Of course God has given us the bible for that…there are no more Godly prophets or apostles left on earth.

                      This is just a thought for expanding your blog a bit. It can take some time, but it pays off sometimes. Hope it helps you…

                    • Not really; I haven’t been able to play with the Reader much. I used to use it all the time to view the blogs I follow, but within the last few months, something changed. If it loads correctly – and that’s rare – it usually crashes my browser. o_O I’ve tried it on my laptop in a WiFi hot spot before and it works just fine, so it must be this old computer and my bad connection. X) That sounds really easy though! I may try it later to see if it will not crash.

                      Oh yeah, I’ve come across a few blogs like that before, and I was surprised and confused. I agree with you there.

                    • If you do get a chance to try “Search” in the reader, try photo websites, poetry, and self-improvement. They seem to respond well to new visitors…Good Luck!
